The snow stopped about 11am and is only a couple of inches, the main roads are clear, but the DECENT weather sites are predicting -8 tonight, so the roads will be like a skating rink tomorrow. Had a great day with my lovely sister, still struggling with gifts for our other nephew, he and his mother are very label orientated, and she has him acting like a 15 year old rather than an 11 year old, and nothing I look at seems right. His mum suggested a polo shirt, but it just doesn't feel right to me to be buying that for him. Think I might end up with some sort of gift voucher for him.
Keep safe, and Bitsy I am delighted you finally got your snowWasn't it worth waiting for?

No snow here but my sympathies to those who are having a difficult time.
This reminds me of a rhyme from my childhood
Whether the weather be fine
Or whether the weather be not
We'll weather the weather
Whatever the weather
Whether we like it or not
NO idea where that came from but it's stuck - a good old Scottish education! Learn by rote and it sticks.
I've sat at my PC and done a whole load of sorting on my iPodmaking sure that the correct artwork was there and so on, just fiddling around really and avoiding doing anything meaningful. A friend called round with a present and that's it. I've also sorted out all the recordings on the PVR - tough work
Moved all the Dr Who recordings into one folder, watched the Newcastle Flash Mob Clog Dance (fabulous) and deleted so much trash it's embarassing. :rotfl:
Now getting ready for Strictly, taken a bottle of wine out of the fridge as it's too chilled and needs to be a little warmer for drinking.
So the only thing being saved here, in good old OS style, is my energy!

we didn't go shopping - took the dogs out for a walk and I sat and watched Kindergarten cop (again - love that film:))
Halight - my DS rang to say Worcester was gridlocked earlier and he had left his car and gone into the pub where he works until things improved. They have about 3" of snow - much more than here.
I'm hoping he can get here tomorrow but its not work risking if its not better.
Hope your brother gets back safely x
Quorn cottage pie about to go in the oven for tea. Strictly Come Dancing to look forward to tonight:j DH's going to light the fire and I'm having a soak in a radox bath shortly:)Do what you love :happyhear0 -

Bitsy, Yes im thinking the same. He is in for a long night. Still he is very fit health wise, He also knows loads of people so im sure if he dose get stuck he will dump the car and walk to anyone he knows thats near. When i say he knows loads of people i really mean that he has loads of mates local but he also has got to know there familys too so pleanty of places he couls go to inbetween here and were he lives.
Taplady
Your son is in the best place....A pub:D Warm loads of people to chat to and loads to drink...Just hope that dont run out... If the snow is too bad they could have a lock in....In which case you might not see him tomorrow with his hangover:beer::beer:
Iv heard loads of people say how bad the roads are all over the west midland and into wales. So If he dose not like the look of it then it might be best for him to stay were he is. Its really all down to how people drive. Some are a lot better than others. Pluss i think todays problems have been because of so many people going out to the shops is the last saturday before christmas i bet the shopping centures have been mad:eek:
Iv beeen hiding in the house all day:p:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Taplady.
I bet it was lovely out with the dogs. When i had my dog he use to keep bending down to bite the snow and ice out of his paws. Id never seen a dog do it before or since. I love dogs and wish i had one now. But my wife wonted cats. So that what we ended up with. But next time after the cats we shall be haveing a dog.
The trees here are full over snow and it look lovley. I would have loved to have been over with woods or park with a dog today:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -

I'm new to the Daily thread:wave: but just wanted to butt in and say we've had 20 inches here in Oxfordshire and it's still snowing! We can't get our back door open as the snow is blocking it.
DS is poorly so all four of us have spent the whole day snuggled under the throw on the sofa, watching DVDs.
I'm sure the novelty of being snowed in will wear off very quickly though!0 -
Hello WSoM yes it does get old VERY quickly, especially when the kids are sick. If you can get to the back door from outside, I would go and clear it, and especially in case it freezes overnight, you need to be able to open the door for fire safety. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0
