Tappers - Hope your H gets on OK with his deliveries x

thanks Bitsy - he's just got home:) thanks to a kind man in a range rover towing him up a dodgy bit of road in the middle of nowhere.
I've done him a big breakfast as he was famished.

He wants to go shopping - not sure about it but the main roads here are fine.

  • Hello Everyone

We had a couple of inches of snow here in South Bristol when I woke up. DD and new SIL's flight late leaving Tokyo-2 hour delay. DH and DS have gone off to Heathrow to meet them with food, blankets, a shovel, cat litter, water.....Need a 4x4 not a Renault Scenic. I bottled out and am staying here keeping an eye on the latest arrival details. Horrified no outgoing flights from Heathrow atm but they are predicted to arrive 16.07. Keep your fingers crossed please.

Hugs to all who need them and all poorlies get better soon.

    Take care and keep warm.

    Hi all:j:j
15cm of snow here and its still comming down:eek:. We are not going on the santa canal boat trip now. The roads are in a very bad state here now. My wife has been to the local high street and the cars and moveing very slow. There is only one line of cars going down and they are in the middel of the road. Its a one way street with two lines of traffic going down. Our own road is very bad and 4 cars have all gone up the road and got stuck.

We have had homemade pea nad ham soup for lunch. very tasty. Its the first time my wife has made this one . Im glad its turn out well. She made it about 3 weeks ago one night and its been sat in the freezzer since then. We have 5 soup bags left of it.

I hope that you are all enjoying the snow with your kids/grand kids or just your partner. My mom how is 61 years young loves the snow but she is not going out in it as she has only had her hip repleaced in August. She is worryed about slipping over So she is enjoying looking out at her gearden. The other week she sent my dad out in the snow with the twins to build a snow man. He hates the snow lol.

The Met office wont to know how much snow people are getting

Glad your husband is back ok. Its been snow here non stop for alest 7 hours. Its mostley only fine small bits of snow falling but as its non stop its building up. Our roads are bad and we live by some very busy main roads that take you into birmingham the cars on them roads are only moveing at a snail pace. But atleast they are moving:T The are reports of motoways at a stand still.
If you go out take a flask of coffee or somthing incase you get court up in traffic.
I hope that its ok tomorrow for your son to get back to you.

    all the best

thanks Halight - not sure if we're going yet but we always take a flask and a snack with us even if it the weathers ok - dont like spending money on coffee etc when we're out.
My son said he may be over later today if he can make it. We're lucky to live on a main road. Shame about the canal trip being cancelled. Sounds like you have more in Worcester than we have here - not measured it yet .

  • Afternoon All

We have had blizzard conditions here this morning and it is still snowing. We live in the Chilterns about 2 miles from Whipsnade Zoo. I have put lots of bird food out and a washing up bowl of fresh water poor things, luckily I have a lot of evergreen bushes and I know that some have taken shelter under there.

We live just around the corner from the gritter yard and have not seen any of the lorries go out either last night or today

I hope DD gets home safely from work and doesn't go to BF's like she has planned.

Just think this time next week we will be listening to the Queen

Keep safe and Warm all x

jackieO - sorry about the football being called off after all the plans.
Halight - sorry also that the little ones have missed out on the canal trip.
Taplady - glad DH is home.
Freezing here but I'm heading up to the city centre to get a quick pressie and then meet Dh for drinks. I'll have to wear even more layers than usual! Still no snow with us. Off to look at a forecast.
    Keep warm folks

That makes me laugh. The Met office on BBc are saying we have light snow for today. Like you we've not got 15cm of the stuff (and it's still coming down), does that sound like light snow to you?! Be a good idea if they managed to get the forecast right rather than asking how much everyone has got :rotfl::rotfl:

Tappers - Glad H got home safe.

Sorry things have been cancelled for you lovely lot but can I just say I am LOVING the white stuff :o:D

Im more over the stourbrigde area than worcester. We do go into the city often. Its only 20mins into the city by train. We know people over there that are out in the sticks and it very bad. The roads blend into the filds. It was the stourbrigde to kinver part of the canal we were going on.
The snow is npow is a good 16cm deep. Deeper than that in some places. By bro who is a post man was out delivering parcils today and the managar of the depo phone them all up to call them back in. He and others were ment to be out tomorrow too but they have called it off. They have been getting more parcils into the depo each day than they have been able to get out and now with the snow its going to be backed up even more. Some folk it looks are not going to be getting there presents in time by the look of it. But saying that as soon as they can get back out they will work around the clock to try and get the place clear for christmas. And if it really dose come to it they could always get letters out asking people to come in to get there parcils.
There has been wether warnings out tonight in the main news saying that the roads are frezzing up. My bro is trying to get back to birmingham so i hope he gets there ok i have a feeling that he is going to be on the road for a long time. It took him harf an our this afternoon to travel what normaly thakes 2-3mins.
