    morning!

We have snow in Worcestershire - a light covering of a few cm but the main roads are ok - hope they stop like that as DS1 is supposed to be visiting later.
DH is on his milkround - not heard from him yet how the country lanes are but I dare say its dreadful. Only a week to go till he finishes:j not heard from the job he applied for yet but he's got an appointment with the recruitment agency next Tuesday. He'll need to find something quick, luckily I'm working so we wont starve but it will be tight.

Birds all fed and watered Redruby:) lots of action out on the bird feeding station this morning!

Plans for today are to get on top of the laundry and ironing(not literally:D) and make a quorn cottage pie for tea. We'll give the dogs a good run out in the snow later too.

Bitsy - hope you get lots of snow:snow_grin and a good rest later too x

Loulou - how sad for your friend. x

JackieG - hope you get your shopping done and dont need to use that shovel! x

hope everyone has a great day
    take care x

  • Morning all,
Hope i find you all well, will go back and read thread in a moment.

Snow here! Woke up to a sprinkling, looks lovely and christmassy :D Had another little sprinkle about an hour ago. Apparently its going to be off and on all day/night. Have Tesco delivery sunday night so fingers crossed for that as its the rest of my christmas food :o:o

DD is finally over her flu but didnt make it back to school before end of term, she was just so tired with the bad cough keeping her up and no energy from barely eating so thought best to keep her home. Shes lost a lot of weight and she really couldnt afford to (shes a teeny tiny mini),so feeding her up a bit.
Im suffering from an ear infection at the moment, very nasty but the pills are kicking in and no longer wandering about the house with a hot water bottle glued to my ear.

Since DD has been ill almost 2 weeks i've had NSD's...i think 11 in a row! Not bad going.Did a shop online last night tho so its come to an end,but still good for this time of year.

Not much going on today. Pooch needs a quick walk.Going to spend the afternoon at my friends across the way,the kids can play together and mums can chat. Then my other friend is popping over this evening to watch a film,we usually have a glass of wine but as im on medication it'll be hot chocolate :D

Sandwiches for lunch. HM carrot and coriander soup for tea for me and cottage pie from freezer for DD (theres 1 small portion left).

Hope you all have a joyful day. Keep warm and safe x

Hi all, lots of snow here last evening and overnight,I think there is about 6 inches now,it came to the top of my glove when I stuck my hand in.I've been out with the dog,but it is quite hard walking in so much snow.I got some snow and ice grippers this week so I feel a bit better about taking him out. When we got back through the gate,he ran straight back inside :rotfl:

DH is attempting to get to work,I think the main roads arent too bad.I'm going to the shop for my paper so I'll be able to see.DS1 is not going to the wedding on the other side of the Pennines-he's grumpy as he ended up ferrying everyone home from the pub as he was driving and the taxis werent running,so was late home.

    OS- I made 3 doz mince pies yesterday,I've put 2 1/2 in the freezer:D.
I made a top last night,my best attempt yet :j.
We were meant to be going to the Manchester Christmas market, but not sure now.I'll have to rustle up some tea if we don't go.There is some stew left over from yesterday,we all enjoyed that.In fact DS2 with his beer induced carb crave this morning has just eaten 2 cold dumplings with great relish :o.We didnt have any bacon.

    Take care everybody.x

    Morning all bbrrrr:snow_grin
Bitsy - thanks for sharing your photos - they are fab!
Lou-lou - so sorry to hear about your friend's mum. It's hard at any time but around this time it is so difficult to 'get on' with Christmas. I don't know who else is in the family and what they are doing for Christmas dinner, but when someone is missing it is just so hard, no matter how the seats are arranged. One thing that sometimes helps is for them to do something completely different like a buffet so people are walking about.
Hester - glad that you are able to take it easy on the first day of your hols.
JackieG - goodness - you certainly have the snow! We have none here. Hope your journey isn't too bad.
Dogs walked although I cheated and cut across the park as it is blimmin' freezing! My face was sore.
    Porridge eaten yum yum.
Plans for the day include a tidy up and then meeting DH at the German Market in late afternoon when he finishes work - mulled wine will be sampled yum yum to celebrate the beginning of his hols. He has been working long hours so I'm really pleased for him to have time off.
We got our Christmas tree last night, so we put it up and it's all sparkly now. Just need to start wrapping presents as there is nothing underneath it!
Still waiting for 4 parcels. Ah well, nothing is vital unlike others who are waiting for children's presents to arrive.
ok, haven't done anything except the bathroom's quick clean so better get on.
Have a good day folks and keep warm.

    Morning All,
We have a sprinkling of snow & apparently more to come. DD1 just phoned to say she is planning to get the coach to Bluewater after work, told her not to bother, if the snow comes like forecast she'll probably get stuck
DD2 lives in Wigan & I'm assuming they've been hit hard judging by the news this morning, will give her a ring in a bit as I know she will start to panic as they are meant to be coming to us for Christmas. :j

My 1st thought when I got up this morning was to wonder if JackieO got away ok, DP just said that the Liverpool game has been cancelled:( what a shame after all the planning & saving she must have done (((hugs))) to you Jackie & family.
Os wise not a lot by me today as I seem to have a problem with my hip:( not sure quite what's going on, every time I put any weight on my foot, my hip feels like the joint is seperating:eek: uncomfortable is an understatement!!
Hugs, spoons, hi5's & congrats to all those ill, sad, cba, pregnant & on achievements.

I'm off to the sofa with my hwb & a cuppa,

Stay warm & safe everyone x

  • Morning all

    JackieO - enjoy Liverpool
Loulou - (((hugs))) for you and your friend
    JackieG - drive safely!!
    BB - fab pics!!

I'm feeling slightly fragile this morning after my xmas do yesterday. But not too hungover considering we were drinking for 12 hours!! I'm so glad the weather didn't stop it. 4 people couldn't make it so there was only 8 of us but we enjoyed. We had a lovely meal at the golf club. The restaurant is all windows so we had a beautiful view of the snow covered golf course and the sea :). We stayed there for 4 hours or so and then ordered taxis to take us to town. We waited outside for the taxi and ended up having a HUGE snowball fight!!! :rotfl:I'm proud to say I held my own against the boys (I was the only girl!) !!

It snowed again last night :j It looks so beautiful here. I adore the view from my flat most days but it's extra special in the snow. There are pics on my facebook if you wanna see!

Staying at home is the order for today. :j As is eating out of the freezer :j and generally slobbing around the place. :j

This is my plan for the day too! :D I need to massively tidy and sort stuff out so will do that too, but it's going to be a slow start! Think I may put on a Christmassy movie and wrap presents later too.

I will go for a walk too later. Either along the beach or to the shop (or both!). I have enough food for weeks so won't starve, but I feel like some snacky hangover junk food and a can of diet coke, plus some magazines :o There is a shop 15 mins walk away so will attempt to walk there I think.

OS wise - WM and DW will go on shortly, think I'll put the BM on too, massive tidy, put away laundry, hoover, clean kitchen. I think I may do some batch cooking too - soup and a veggie chilli maybe.

Have a fab day all, enjoy the snow!

    Afternoon!!

We have so much snow!! I got home at nearly 4am and there was no sign of it, now it's a white out!

Was supposed to go to work to do some OT today, but got to the station and got told by the ticket man not to travel because there was talk of cancelling the trains. Feel really bad, as we had works night out last night, and i'm not pulling a sickie (i actually feel fine!) but i don't want to get stranded in this weather!

Taken the dog out, and OH is STILL asleep.

Going to bake a cake today i think :)

Loads of snow where we are too, and lots more forecast until tonight - skies are heavy and grey.

I manufactured a shopping list (we are stocked up on essentials) for my DSs to take into town just so that they had an excuse for a walk outside. They've come back saying that they've been pushing cars that have got stuck so have got a bit more unplanned exercise.

It sounds like main roads all around us are gridlocked. I'm glad we are indoors.
