too late, i always do it online. it should be ok, its due on the 29th dec, even if it comes a few days after that, i'll be fine as i just wont drive it

In that case as you have renewed online before the expiry you have until January 7th to continue driving it, even without displaying your new one - because you get 5 (working) days grace.

I would have relied on my own feet rather than Royal Mail.

in fact that reminds me. i renewed it last year in good time. for some reason i thought i couldnt put the new disc on the car before the old one expires, (not sure if this is true or not) but anyway, put it in a drawer to keep it safe. then what do you know, for the first 2 weeks in january i was driving round with the old disc still on and the new one in the drawer. i would have got fined in someone had seen

It's not true, nothing to stop you from displaying two tax discs.

What is the point of a tax disc anyway? Anyone interested always checks the database to see if a vehicle is taxed (Except nosey neighbours)

I understand people can forget about MOT/Insurance due date as that gets stored away.

My MOT Station always send a reminder to me through the post.

how often do you look at the front passenger side of the windscreen? i never do, i go in via the drivers side and out by the drivers side with my back to the car, i dont spend a lot of time looking at the front of my car

Hardly, sometimes I happen to glance over then it's enough to remind me when it's due. If people are forgetful on these things then a simple reminder in the dairy/organiser/mobile with do the job.

They are probably cost cutting and not sand any!

I just renewed my license by the request of DVLA - £20 down the drain and they dont give you a new plastic wallet either!
