  • Got up at 5.30am, TL site server fell over at 6am, after nearly wearing out the refresh button I finally booked 2 sale rooms at London Waterloo, one at £15 and one at £25, I had to settle for the others I wanted at saver rates but at least I've got a week in London for a price I can afford and according to the messages I got on the website when I booked, my card details just guarantee my booking and I don't have to pay until I arrive. I can hang on to my cash a little longer then - I don't remember this being the case in previous bookings though? Can anyone else confirm?

You need to double check this. You might just possibly be reading this all wrong :D

TL business model is ALL about pre-payment to secure a room.

Check your email confirmation(s) - if you haven't got one, then you HAVE NOT booked the room.

Worth it to save disappointment later.

This happened to me last year, I emailed them, and they said they knew there was a problem, and took my money a few days later. My brother had also booked a room and not paid, he did not email them but paid on arrival. these were sale rooms.

    OK, could be wrong.

With my £9 room today I had to prepay same as I have the last 100 times with TL lol
  • I mangaed to book 3 family rooms at 3 locations at the times I wanted throughout the year at £9 each with only getting server busy a few times.
  • Definitely received the confirmation e-mails, and the rooms show up on my TL account. What I can't find on the e-mails or the VAT invoices is any mention of the payment being due at check-in rather than at time of booking. Don't think I was hallucinating but I did get up very early for this, so I'll be keeping a close eye on my statements for the next week or so. However, I'm sure that only my first attempt at payment in between server busy messages mentioned the £2 charge for credit card payment, none of the later efforts said anything about it. Weird.

Just phone the front desk and ask nicely for the extra pillows/ sheets/ duvet.

Alternatively ask nicely when you get there - I've done that before nae problemo

I have made a mistake and only booked for 1 person instead of 2 before. I just went into my account and clicked on amend and changed it.
