I got an extra payment yesterday...just under a tenner less than my normal weekly amount so have worked out my new payments until I renew.

I also read that someone posted that it was cases that had certain things....my case is really straightforward - haven't spoke to change anything since renewal although I am PAYE and S/E.

Was a welcome wee bonus I have to confess;)

yeah i know that, but what i was reffering to is, somebody else in this thread reckons they spoke to somebody at the tax credits, who in turn told them that the only people who would get this extra payment, are people who`s new award for this year(from april onwards) was going to be drastically different to the award they had this year, so was wondering because i had extra payment does that automatically mean, that the new award is going to be significantly less than the award we are on now

    I doubt it.

Lone parent so I get a reasonable amount of tax credits and I am nowhere near any limits (mores the pity!!) and aside from NHS incremental pay rises (which aren't huge believe me!!), my income has been more or less the same in the 4 years claiming.

    I wouldn't worry too much

EDIT - just noticed your sig...remember you will lose your baby element when your wee one turns 1 this year

we expecting a 1 off payment when we renew, or at least bigger payments next year, something is not right with our claim, as a guide i have just used the tax credit calculater on the hmrc website, put all the correct details in, apart from earninings, i have actually put in we earned £28,000 last year, even though we earned no more than £26,000, and it says between now and end of financial year we should recieve £87.70 per week, when in actual fact we recieve £58 per week, so why we getting £30 less per week on earnings of £28,000 when infact we only earned £26,000, this year is even worse, will be more like £25,000 as the mrs has had alot less work this year than last year, so i would expect bigger payments next year, but still cant get my head around why we getting so much less a week than there own website says, i know it is only a guide, but even so
Take every day as it comes!!
  • That does seem strange Spaceman.

When i use the HMRC calculator my payments are accurate down to about £4 per week.

Have you phoned tco to ask whats going on ?

I did not get any letter but i did notice over xmas i had an extra child tax credit payment 2 in one week where as my OH did not get an extra working tax payment??
Our weekly payments are so far still the same.

  • Got letter early December, to date received no additional payment, but my normal 4 weekly payment arrived today and its £2 more than normal.

Well I guess its better to be up 50p a week than down 50p! :)
  • As yet no one seems to know too much about what exactly the system change is going to entail.

If you did receive an extra payment then the remainder of your payments from then until April time will go down slightly.

  • As tomorrow is the last day of January (and also the day my tax credits are normally credited to my account) is it safe to assume that there is no "extra" payment coming my way?

Was there a common factor for those who did receive a payment?
    DF
