Spaceman - if you take the amount you received as the extra payment and divide it by 10 - as there are 10 weeks left in this tax year - this will be (roughly) the amount your future weekly payments will reduce by.

yeah i know that, but what i was reffering to is, somebody else in this thread reckons they spoke to somebody at the tax credits, who in turn told them that the only people who would get this extra payment, are people who`s new award for this year(from april onwards) was going to be drastically different to the award they had this year, so was wondering because i had extra payment does that automatically mean, that the new award is going to be significantly less than the award we are on now

  • Spaceman i dont think that theory is actually true to be honest.

Our household income is looking set to be about £1.5 less than it was last year so im hoping that our payments increase lol.

If you look at you latest award notice it tells you on there what your payments in April are going to be (although they are only provisional)

yeah i know, but that was printed before the new goverment came in and announced all these cuts that are supposed to start happening, coincidentally our income is gonna be about £1.5 less this year also, so was hoping tax credits would go up, not so sure now though

The new government wont (shouldnt?) be making any changes to tax credits until at least 2012 .

I think with an under estimation of 1.5k income , you should be ok. Your payments should go up a little after April

    what !!!

Seriously ? Is that just for the remainder of this tax year or what ? Do you expect it to increase in April ?

Last year my OH lost his job and we found our household income dropping by around 9k . I told tax credits this and they were great , they sorted my new award out within a week and my payments rose by £80 per week.

How the heck are you coping with such a drastic drop in income?

I gave them the new earnings which is just my carers allowance and child benefit and a small pension of £50 a month and theysaid my new award is £117 a week I was getting £128 when hubby was earning, hes applied for pension credit as hes 12 yearsolder than me and we are still waiting for that so living on carers nd tax credits its a nightmare, our income is now £4356 a week before tax credits and they have dropped its crazy especially as our daughter is disabled and on full rate care dla
