I haven't got this letter yet. Any extra amount they pay in Jan I will just keep aside, then use evenly between Feb and April. So it wont effect my monthly budget.

If you are on a tight monthly budget, I don't see how this will be detrimental to you - you simply keep the additional amount and use it in yur budget as and when you normally would......right? Could be worse, they could be saying your payments will be delayed until the new system is in place.....

I've just received this letter too, it says -

A change to your tax credit payments
Between now and the end of January 2011 you may receive a payment of tax credits you were not expecting. It will not be the same as your normal amount and could be paid on a different day. This extra payment is as a result of changes we need to make to our system in preparation for next year.

    What this means for you
This nothing to worry about and you will not be asked to pay it back.

It will mean that the remainder of your normal payments, until April 2011, will be slightly lower to take this payment into account. The total amount of tax credits you are entitled to has not changed and all the other tax credit payments that you receive from us will be paid on your normal payment date. You will not get a new award notice reflecting this change.

    What you need to do
There is no need to contact us or reply to this letter.

No need to contact them? It doesn't state whether this affects working tax (which goes to my partner) or the child tax ( which goes to me) or both. What a load of useless information. Not to mention how it might effect those of us who work to a tight monthly budget.
Thanks for posting the letter , yes this is the letter i got . I will be checking online banking ,it would have been nice to know how much the payment would be .
  • I got one of these letters too, I think it's do with a new system they are putting in place, remember what the Government said they are changing all benefits and payments so everyone is on the same, I can only imagine that this is the start by changing the system as it will take a good few years to implement.:(
    Wins from the past.

£100 :j£5 High Street Voucher :jand x2 Creme Eggs (were both won by my little girls):jHugo DVD:j20 litre bag of organic fertilizer....poooooeeee....but it's a win!:j

I got a letter last Sat morning - apparently I was getting the disability element on my CTC, but shouldn't have been and now I have an overpayment. The chap I spoke to, when I rang them on Monday morning told me he would put a Disability Marker on my file and a new award would be sent out with new figures etc. He gave me the 0845 to ring once the paperwork arrived - which it hasn't yet.

Yesterday I noticed that there had been a payment of only £5.25 paid into my account and when I checked today it says it's for WTC - normally I get a payment of £120 on a Monday morning.

So it would seem that they're taking loads back and only giving me £5 a week to live on - the week leading up to Xmas, great timing eh!

No paperwork has been received yet though. I thought that the overpayment would just have been in relation to the CTC and not have affected the WTC, but I must have been wrong?
