I love this thread

Me too! So many good tips!
You can also buy crispy duck kits from a certain frozen supermarket chain beginning with F and a discount supermarket beginning with A.
Think theyre under a fiver and you get the sauce and pancakes too. Just need to top up with cucumber and spring rolls. Proud to be OS :j0 -

The only ones we like are the fresh ones from M&S £1.79 for two. I bulk buy and freeze them. (Get funny looks at the checkout when I buy half a dozen packets without buying any curry to go with them!)£2012 in 2012 Challenge £2051.06£2013 in 2013 Challenge £500 -
I know its slightly off topic, but, to all of you re takeaways, have you been on this thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2665259 The Takeaway Secret. The recipes do work.0

i saw/read a recipe in a student cookbook that said to get a genuine crispy duckiness (not just roasted), the best thing to do was to loosen skin with hands when raw and then shoving your hairdryer in the cavity. I have no idea if this works or not though.0

Doesn't stop you sweating but stops it smelling. It's generally fairly pricey (I buy Pitrock from Oxfam in a push up container for around £7) but it lasts for months (I think I may have had my Pitrock over a year!)
The main risk is dropping it, because then it shatters into a million pieces and most goes to waste! That's why I prefer the Pitrock in the container to the soap-shaped stones, even though you get more with the stones, I always drop those and I haven't dropped the Pitrock yet!"
I spent my teen years growing up in Asia, this mineral rock you could buy in the market, 1 huge hunk that would last a year costing about 5p, compared to the imported aerosols and roll ons that would cost the same as a working mans weekly wage. You could buy a crystal as big as your fist and hand it to the shopkeeper who would file down one end of it to make it smooth. I'd keep mine on a pretty saucer in the bathroom.
I dropped mine quite a few times. If it does happen all you have to do is gather up the pieces. Keep an empty roll on container, some of them you can prise off the top or the ball with a little effort. Put all the mineral bits in, add some water and even a bit of essential oil and you have rescued your mineral deo. All the bits slowly disolve. No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!0 -

Good tip - thanks...and glad to see we're back on topic on this thread..:)0 -
We (very occasionally) substitute mince with a value brand of dog food when making shepherds pie. With a good gravy and plenty of onions, one would never know the difference.
