Why are people so intent on making it sound like I drove at 7 billion miles an hour over the grand canyon? Sheesh, I DID slow down for the pothole, obviously all of you wouldn't mind someone forcing you to slow down to first gear for this.

We're not but you drove too fast through a pothole you knew was there.

If you are daft enough to drive over a known pothole at a speed that damages your car, then I am sorry, I don't have any sympathy for your self inflicted problem.

I judged the speed to be safe enough to travel over the pothole, turns out it wasn't on that occasion. It was slower than a couple of days ago when I travelled over it fine, though very jarring as it was, leading to me driving slower on that day.

So your car was the first and only car out of thousands to be damaged by this 'trench'.

What was different about your car from every one of the thousands that passed over it without damage?

Bad luck? I don't know, all I know is the car shouldn't have received damage. It was in fine condition beforehand.

I drove through a pothole that I knew was there that could not be driven around as slow as I thought was reasonable.

Well you judged it wrong, who's fault is that?

Are you related to Derrick by chance?

So you own a car that can't drive over a 'trench' in the road that causes no problems to any other of the thousands of cars that use that road. Seems hard to believe unless there was something about your car that made it more susceptible to damage (lowered, in need of repair, etc).
