I've just (Sat pm) been in the Cannock store and they've got these stacked in several places around the store. There were at least 40 that I saw - they even had them stacked all along the front of the pharmacy counter.0

I have just got back from town (Lancaster) and there were still loads at 5pm. At least 50.0

It was always left to me to get everyone's presents, write all the cards, decorate the tree, go to work, do the dinner etc, and on Christmas Eve, DH would make a Big Thing of "I'll be a bit late home from work cos I'll be doing my shopping". Next door to where he worked was a shoe shop, and every year I got a pair of slippers.
His family would open a carefully chosen gift, and then complain it wasn't the right colour. My side would grumble about anything possible. Then after dinner, the kids would fight, everyone else would fall asleep, and I'd be left with all the washing up (pre dishwasher days!).
But I'd give anything to have both our sets of relations with us, moaning about the brussels, or the plates being too hot/not hot enough. If you don't get any nice things, just do what I used to do. Have a good cry on your own, bathe yourself in the aroma of burning martyrand know that, without a doubt, you are one of that fabulous group, who sprinkle Fairty Dust on everyone else, and without which there wouldn't be Christmas.
You, my darling, are A Woman!!!!!! :A:A:A
Wishing all Mummies, Grandmas, Aunties, Sisters, Daughters, Wives and Girlfriends a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
xx
What a lovely message. I read it before I saw who the poster was and agreed it with it all. I shouldn't have been surprised that it was the famous Miss Scarlett.
I echo your sentiments entirely. Yes we all have a moan at this time of the year, and we are entitled to it.
But I too would give anything just to be able to send a Christmas Card to My Brother and sister who died within 3 months of each other this year.
And to raise a drink to my son in Australia who I don't know if I will ever live long enough to see again. But most of all not to have an empty chair where my son who is now dead used to sit.
So ladies, enjoy your Christmas the best way you can, and treasure those that you have around you despite the moans and groans and long faces.
If you have bought your own present this year, enjoy it, to hell with who went out for it, so long as you didn't have to pay for it as well.
Sandra message reminded me of a Peggy Lee song - I'm a Woman also recorded by Bette Midler~ What goes around comes around ~0 -

Unfortunatly dont need any other christmas shopping so dont want to go too far out of my way for this, but if anyone knows if theres any of these in stock in Dundee, Perth or Aberdeen, could they let me know, Many thanks x
Dundee def had them late on yesterday, but that I would imagine has almost certainly changed by now after a mental last saturday before xmas shopping frenzy!
However, I bought two online yesterday... delivery to Dundee store weds... and if you want the second, I'm more than happy for you to have it. I always buy an extra, just incase any of my soap and glory fanatic friends miss out! I'm just going to get it refunded when I collect mine, but as I say, feel free to contact me if you want it.0 -
