tried the honey, works well, can't really taste it.
Question for all you experts: If I want to make wholemeal bread, it states in the recipe book to add a Vit C tablet. I looked in Asda for these and found the tubes but when I looked on the ingredients list it said it had aspartame in it, I don't really want to "spoil" my healthy homemade bread by adding aspartame to it. What do you all do?0 -
TBH I've never bothered and the bread comes out fine. It's always worth experimenting though to see what you prefer.
The recipe I use uses fresh milk instead of powdered:
Water 6 fl oz
Milk 6 tbsp
Butter 1 1/2 tbsp
Honey 1 1/2 tbsp
Salt 1 1/2 tsp
Wholemeal flour 7 1/2 oz
White bread flour 7 1/2 oz
Yeast 2 1/4 tsp
Makes 1 1/2lb loaf (so use 1lb setting)"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

Stainless one currently half price in Argos if anyone is looking for one. Only difference between that and the white is the white has cool walls, so as long as there is no risk of a little one touching it £34.89 is a good price! One day I might be more organised...........

See above, just posted about that, I have the FASTBAKE stainless one which is currently half price. Have never used the 'not fastbake' one which looks expensive. Wonder what the difference is with the Ultimate one, mine has everything that the feature says apart from only 13 hour timer & which is more than enough and the dispenser, just add the fruit/seeds myself, wouldn't want it sitting around that long anyway 24 hours eww. 110 programmes, doesn't seem right does it, might be better however, the price seems to suggest it is.One day I might be more organised...........

Hi Fishface
I had the Breadman Ultimate before being given a Panasonic for Christmas. It is a fantastic breadmaker and the loaves were almost as good as the Panasonic. It made better pizza dough . I still have it as back up. Can't speak for the MR though.0 -
I've just bought the Fastbake BM from Argos and I am disappointed. Before the MR Fastbake we had a basic Cookworks BM. It was a little small and started to leak hence the purchase of the MR BM. I made a loaf yesterday and it was fine but in my opinion it was just as good as the Cookworks and much more fiddley to make. The Kneeding dough paddle keeps falling flat; especially after adding the flour so I have to get my hands in their to upright it. This makes my hand sticky and I am not confident the paddle is still up when I've put the pan in the machine. Anybody got any ideas on keeping the paddle up.0

Yes I wondered that - I mean what ARE the 100 programmes? Cant find them anywhere, even on the website!! Does it sing, does it dance?!! Think I'll go for the bargain one! Also agree with stuff sitting arund for 24 hours - do they know how fast bacteria multiply I wonder!! Thanks all!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1!
