I've just got a MR Fastbake, too - I didn't know there was a whole thread about them.
My first loaf was OK but I had real trouble getting the paddle out of the bottom of the loaf as the bottom crust was quite hard - has anyone else had this problem and worked out how to solve it, please?
pinkmami - have you had another go yet? I must admit I thought the quantity of salt in the recipes was a bit excessive, so I reduced it to half a teaspoon (for a small loaf) and it came out fine. I'm not sure about how to solve the moistness problem, though. :think:Back after a very long break!0 -
I'm not sure if this has been posted before but I couldn't find it.
Just found a pdf of the manual for this model if it is of any use to anyone.

I haven't used my breadmaker to make bread for months as my husband isn't keen on breadmaker bread. I just normally use it to make a pizza dough.
I am going to have a go a using the breadmaker on the dough setting and bake the loaf in the oven.
The only thing I have found in the past is they tend to be a bit lacking in taste, I can't put my finger on it but they just don't taste anything like 'normal' bread.
The other thing too is they always look a yellow colour, more of a cake colouring than bread.
I use oil instead of butter but they don't come out white, can anyone tell me how to get a whiter looking loaf please?

Ok, well I decided to have a go with a different recipe and use the breadmaker to bake it.
I made a small Milk Loaf and used my new Cookworks food slicer for the first time and it was great for sandwiches.
Also tried some in the toaster and it was very nice which was a surprise.
I think I may change the width setting next time though as it was only set to 7mm.0 -
I'd love to know how so many of you get nice bread out of the MR fast bake machine.
I got one for my 40th and after a year I threw it to the back of the cupboard under the stairs in disgust.
I normally got a loaf not much bigger than the ingredigents that went in. Tried single pack yeast for freshness as well as big packs of the stuff.
It was always hard by the end of the day, regardless of what I wrapped it in.
The most consistant setting for eatible bread was the sandwich loaf and the fast bake was a no no - smelt good but hard and flat (could have used as ammuniation!)0 -

Is yours this model below or the silver longer shaped model?0 -

I always use the wholemeal bread setting (No 3) and never use the recipe in the manual... try looking through this thread for recipes, works perfect for me every time.0 -

hi everyone i have a morphy richards breadmaker 48262 but no book, my mil gave me it and it's pretty old can anyone tell me the order to add ingredients? and the quantities?DEC GC £463.67/£450

Do you use the wholemeal setting for white bread as well?
If so, have you made milk bread using that setting?
Ta.
No I've never made a white loaf, although I'd probably try it on that setting if I did.
I always use 1 cup of white flour to 3 cups of wholewheat on my loaves... 2 cups of each makes a good 'best of both' style loaf.0
