  • Hi,
Yesterday I used my MR fastbake for the first time in over 5 years and made a delicous white crusty loaf using this recipe from Carrs Breadmaker, i'm not allowed to post links so here it is

    Bread recipes ...

    Basic White Loaf

Winner of The 2004 Carrs Breadmaker Awards

    Ingredients

    • 1 teaspoon easy fast acting yeast
    • 500gms Carrs Strong White Breadmaker flour
    • 1.5 teaspoon salt
    • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
    • 25gms butter
    • 320mls water
    Method

    1. Place all the ingredients in the bread pan as listed.
    2. Programme: basic – medium crust
Recipe by Mrs Sue Lord - winning white loaf of the 2004 national Breadmaker Awards run by Carrs Flour Mills, Silloth, Cumbria, to find the Best Loaf in Britain baked in an automated breadmaker.

I stopped using my breadmaker as didn't like the result following the MR recipe booklet, it came out too soft and sweet. the recipe above is so tasty I couldn't help picking at it.

My friend's has a panasonic BM and her hubby made some lovely wholemeal bread so i'm currently using his recipe, will post it here if mine works out
  • Not sure if this is the right forum but here it goes!

Our inlaws recently gave us a Morphy Richards Breadmaker which they were given as a Christmas present over 10 years ago and never used.

I have tried making bread using the recipes in the manual - small white loaves and a 'half and half' loaf using one cup of strong white flour and one cup of wholemeal flour. Although the results have been edible I have had a few problems and was wondering if any of you good people would be able to help.

    1. The crust on all the loaves I have baked has been very thick and dark compared to shop-bought bread. I did some googling and found that by reducing the amount of sugar in the recipe by one half would solve the problem. I tried this and it resulted in a lighter crust but it was still very thick.

    2. It is a hell of a job to get the loaf out of the breadmaker after it has completed the baking cycle. I've tried leaving it to cool for 15 - 20 minutes after baking has completed but it makes no difference. I read on the internet that coating the baking tin with oil would help but this is a new non-stick tin and coating it in oil would surely only make the problems with the crust worse?

    3. The bread does not taste exactly like bread bought from the retailers although I have followed the recipe exactly.

For a 750g loaf put in first 315ml of water 1 &1/2 teaspoons of salt 30g of butter chopped then mix 600g of strong plain flour or bread flour 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1 tablespoon of dried tin milk then add to the tin then make an indentation on top of the flour and add 1 & 1/2 teaspoons of yeast and you should end up with a loaf that you will really enjoy

I need to make some pizza bases, what is the maximum capacity that the bread machine can take for making dough? I wanted to use about 800g but don't want to overload the machine

Does anyone use filtered or mineral water in their recipes?

I've always used straight tap water, but it occurred to me the chlorine is likely to affect the yeast doing it's job... I might try it from the Brita jug next time
  • I have used filtered water with every loaf I have made

Well I tried it last night and can honestly say its made no difference to the yeast rising whatsoever.

I have yet to taste it though
  • Hi all,

I have done a search of the forum but can not see any bread recipes for Coeliac's that work in the Morphy Richard Fast Bake machine.

I've tried the one that came in the book with the machine but it wasn't very nice.

Does anyone have a tried and tested recipe they would share with me.

    I'd be most grateful

    Thanks

    Michelle
  • YAY I got a MR fastbake machine a few days ago and did the 2lb loaf ~ it was HUGE :D
