Sounds like the gearbox has seized, have you been soaking it in water or leaving water to soak in the pan?

Try dribbling vegatable oil down the spindle, if rust comes out the bottom - it is b*ggered

i've been using my MRFB to make the dough for bread buns, and they always turn out brilliant.

so, as i don't really like the loaves that are cooked in the BM, i thought i'd make the dough, then put it in a loaf tin and bake it in the oven

anyway, i've done this about 4 or 5 times now, but every time, its a disaster. i put the ingredients in the BM for a 1 & 1/2 lb basic white loaf, then put it on the dough setting. i let the machine do its work for 90mins, take the dough out ( but it feels really wet...any ideas?) put it in a 2lb loaf tin, let it have its 2nd rising, then bake it........only to find the dough just overflows out of the loaf tin, so i'm left with just a pool of .....well, bread i suppose.

where am i going wrong? i'm sick of only doing rolls all the time.... i wanna make a loaf of bread

pleese can someone give me some tips if they do their dough in the BM then bake it in the oven?

    thanx

I also make my bread like this. I do not have a bread tin so I split the dough into 3 and make a big plait. This way it doesn't matter how big it gets it won't overflow. I have always got a good result out of this. good luck!

Maybe try a larger loaf tin, try a 3/4 mix or don't leave it for so long to prove for the second time? Just ideas but its just a case of trial and error. Hope this helps??

I had to seach for this thread, I kept seeing the other breadmaker threads and so knew a MR fastbake would be here somewhere as I can't be the only one that has one!

I just wanted to share what I have made over the last few days as I am excited as previously I have only ever made plain bread!

The day before yesterday I made two pizzas and yesterday I made three lots of pizza dough, one which I turned into small pizza bases to be frozen for later use, one that I turned into two share garlic breads and one that I turned into dough balls!

This morning I made two lots of bagels (they were fun!) and so I have had to put the breadmaker away as now I have no space left in the freezer!

What do you think I should attempt next?!!

I have made my own bread bag by folding a thin linen tea towel (the 50p ones from IKEA are ideal) and sewing up 2 sides, leaving just one of the short sides open. It allows the bread to breathe but keeps it moist at the same time - then I just leave it on the worktop or stick it in the cupboard if ther's space. Worked really well to keep the single successful loaf fresh a couple of days.Annie

Here in our Spanish village the ladies all go to the local bread van or shop with their 'bread bags' Made from cotton like a small pillowcase, with a draw string top and decorated with embroidered loaves.

Have you tried to push the pan right down?? I've had a BM for over 10 years and had no problems then last week the same symptoms as you have happened to me. I realised that the paddle wasn't turning so pushed the pan home and it started to work. chimp

Me too.....but my excuse was I'm new to breadmaking.
  • I am only a student but I love cooking and baking, and I got a fastbake from ebay a while back without a recipe book.
I missed the link some of you are refering to where one can get recipes for the BM, can someone post it again please?
    thanks,

this is such a great group, I am sure I can learn a lot!
