Here in our Spanish village the ladies all go to the local bread van or shop with their 'bread bags' Made from cotton like a small pillowcase, with a draw string top and decorated with embroidered loaves.

    That sounds fab!

Hope it will catch on here. So far I am scaring the sales people in shoe shops and clothes shops by bringing out my HM pretty fabric bags instead of accepting boxes and plastic. Will have to take my bread bag to Asda next time I want a bought one and ask for the sliced loaf to be popped inside! :rotfl:

Isnt it funny when you confront a shop assistant with your own bag:rotfl: ....you would think that with all the fuss latley that they wouldnt be quite so suprised!!:rotfl: ...I will be making those bread bags too ,fantastic idea:T . I usually have a loaf cooling on the rack wrapped in a tea towl but then transfer it to a large airtight box but it takes up loads of space,if I make it with a little loop I can hang the bread bag up out of the way!

I have my first ever loaf in my new BM, but it's due to finish when I'm supposed to be walking to school to pick up my eldest. By the time I get back the BM will have been finished for nearly 1hr, is that a problem? Should I wait for it to finish and take the car, even though it's walk to school week and I've only managed one day so far!

    TIA

    Hi Tibbies mum,

The MR fastbake has a 'keep warm' function for an hour so it shouldn't be a problem...I'm afraid you'll have to walk! :D

I'll add this thread to the Morphy Richards Fastbake thread as it helps to keep all the replies together.

Thanks Pink. And yes, I did walk.

I'm very impressed with my first loaf, I made the Peanut Butter Bread from the Fastbake Recipe book. I don't like peanut butter but OH is addicted, so I really made it for him, although his only comment was that it was a bit 'heavy'. I quite liked it and even my fussy 3yr old had a bit.

What do I need to do to make a lighter loaf? By the way, the flour was just out of the freezer to kill any bugs or weevels, so I suppose that could been a problem - not letting it get to room temp.

Any tips would be gratefully received.

    TIA

I have a Morphy Richards fastbake and it rises fine whatever mix I use.

Is it cooking properly but just not rising? Is it rising at all?

What setting are you putting it on?

I know you have probably checked all the obvious stuff but I'll list them anyway:

In your mix have you included:

    tepid water (must be tepid)
yeast (is the yeast in date, or could be duff batch)
    salt
    oil
    sugar

Morphy Richards Manuals can be downloaded from their site if that helps:
    http://www.morphyrichards.co.uk/BreadMakers.aspx
Edit: This link show piccie of the breadmakers and downloads available:
    http://www.morphyrichards.co.uk/DownloadSearchResults.aspx
    Quote from Their site:
    Why didn't the bread rise?
The yeast could be bad, past it’s sell by date or
possibly no yeast was added at all. Also, if the mixing
was not complete, rising problems could develop.
