i won a one way ticket to barcalona forone no good to me lol think the comp was a bit of a con really to get people to buy more tickets as one ticket is no good to most people

HI Adalef,

I have sent them 2 emails and an official letter (because from previous experience they will not accept emails!!!!) I have evidence of the terms and conditions before the closing date. I will keep you posted on how that goes. In the meantime i would suggest a complaint to someone independant. I am going to try The Trading Standards Agency on Tuesday. What they will probably do, if this is within their remit, is send some forms to complete. I will contact you again at that stage to make a joint complaint. Thats 4 so far at least! I also have an email address for someone in the winning department from the last competition. I am awaiting a reply for that one. She may well have left the company after the debacle last time. The good news is that in the last 2 competitions with Jet2 they caved in to the pressure. I even offered to draft their terms and conditions for their next competition as they are so incompetant!! Clearly they didnt take me up on it! In the meantime i would also use a search engine "jet2 yorkshire quiz" and save the results, it also refers to 2 x return flights.

jojo you just posted whilst i was writing my reply. Ill use this thread to keep people updated. Your point is a good one, and my main issue in the last competition. It was accepted by Jet2 so i think the argument is that this was advertised as a competition, and terms and conditions accepted at the time of entering. Therefore they should honour the competition. It is not possible to unilaterally change the terms and conditions of any contract. The legal issue here is whether there was any "consideration" and therefore a contract. My point is the negative publicity caused is not worth it for them. But beware, even if successful, they will make it very difficult to take the flights.

sorry JoJo - a one way????? i cant see anything about one ways on the amended Terms and Conditions. I should imagine you will be sucessful in a return flight. Thats if you wish to return, I love Barcelona

I also won 'a flight', and as I was looking at the T&C's they changed to 1 x return flight, but this has now changed back to 2 x return flights. My e-mail hasn't been replied to but I was thinking the people who are dealing with the comp will be off for the holidays???
On their website there is a news item that quotes;
Philip Meeson, boss of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “As the leading leisure airline for Yorkshire, we wanted to reward those who had a great knowledge and understanding of our home region. We had a fantastic response to the Grand Yorkshire Quiz with over 10,000 entries in just five days. And entrants spanned the country – obviously there were some Yorkshire-wannabes or perhaps ex-tykes keen to put their knowledge to the test! We’re delighted to have given away 11 holidays and over 1,000 flights and we hope everyone who won enjoys their trip.”

So he has said it was more than 1000 flights and I don't think his maths can be that bad.

Lets just hope they realised the error of their ways and changed it back to how they advertised it to try and prevent any adverse publicity.
We will wait and see but if its not 2 x flights I'm with you..:xmassmile

peej - I wish i had your optimism! but they class return flights as 2 so 500 x 2 = 1000. Even they are confused!!! I will keep you all updated. I have a friend who is a journalist for a national newspaper who has also said he will apply some pressure if the complaint is not replied to.
