    OK, any opinions guys? :heartsmil

    This months budget: £1216.36
    Outgoings: Rent and Bills: £550.00
    Mobile Phone: £17.00
    Aikido: £16.00
    Prescriptions: £15.00
    Car Insurance: £25.00

Regular Savings: Car tax/ MOT: £25.00
    Christmas: £20.00
    Birthdays: £10.00

Want to keep £30.00 aside for petrol.

On paper this leaves me with @£500.00 to pay off my debt this month, but I'm thinking I'll just leave it in my online savings account until the last possible moment in case of emergency.

Has anyone got any better advice for me? I know it's not strictly the place, but I am really getting bored with waiting and waiting for this to be slowly paid off! And this challenge has been a great help along the way

Great news to people meeting their targets! See you soon x

Oh, I just noticed, it's officially autumn today!

  • Personally I think you need to budget for some pocket money, even if it's just £10 a week. Otherwise I think you'll struggle to stick to a budget. But beyond that it always worked better for me to pay the debt off straight away, other wise I'd fritter the money I was meant to be paying off debt over the course of the month and wind up paying much less. I always regretted this method by about the 15th of the month, but I always got through, and I'm SO glad I did it now or I'd still have a shedload of debt.

Hope everyone is well on here, congrats to those hitting targets! I'm still lurking and reading hehe.

I've finally done it an paid off the last credit card. Well till they find £0.40p interest I owe them Like Barclaycard did!!

It's been a hard slog and when I started I seemed to be going backwards for so long.

Just 2 loans to pay off to clear my debt now and then maybe I can join the Mortgage Free Wanabees.

In a way it helped that there had been errors on my tax and pension payments (I'm self employed) so I had some nice lump some payments back in the last 2 months. But then thinking about it if I hadn't overpaid in the 1st place I might have paid back more at the time (I really was struggling some months)and paid less interest - so that had benefits and drawbacks!

In 2 months the bank loan is paid off then I can start paying back the Bank of Mum & Dad.

I will be free of financial institution debt by Christmas.:) This year I've leart to budget so I don't go back into that dark bad place I started out at.

Sadly Dad has been diagnosed with cancer and it's a more severe type so I was looking forward to 2012 but in a way I'm dreading it too. :(

166million: I did overpay my loan as soon as my salary was in, I knew if i waited till the end of the next month, the available amount would be less. If I don't have that money, I can't spend it, that's my motto. So yes, I would pay now rather than later.
