£6 towards this challenge for me today (I've paid £10 but the other £4 doesn't count). So that's 5/10 payments this month.

I'll try and do a half-month update today or tomorrow so we can see how we are doing so far.

    Hi all

Jwil - as you are doing a mid-month update i'll pop my little overpayments on here now total: £3621.88/10,000

i also have a bit of a confession to make :o I have been feeling a bit down of late for personal reasons - and the debt obviously doesn't help :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: anyways i always keep up to date with posts as i do find them motivational but the other day, and i know its completely ridiculous :o:o:o, i was seeing how much further ahead other people are who have a similar goal to mine and felt really down :(

Well, i gave myself a stern talking to :naughty: and obviously my rational side returned. This is a challenge - we all set our own targets which we hope to achieve but which are a bit of a stretch too, anything that we pay off puts us in a stronger / better position. We all also have our own circumstances - my wage from my f/t job doesn't pay £10,000 a year - what was i thinking lol :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I have also had other things effect my ability to make overpayments - car breaking down, maintenance jobs on house that couldn't wait etc. But this thread means i am focused on my repayments and the support from everyone is brilliant. Its also nice to hear how people have raised the funds for overpayments as when i read someone has made money from e-bay etc. that gives me a push in the right direction and i think 'right, i'll sort something out and get items listed' and it is brilliant when they sell :T so thank you for posting up how where the funds have come from for the payments / overpayments :D

My payments so far have been MS money, cashback and some e-bay funds :D

I've put this post on just in case there are people who have joined and not updated or updated a while ago who may have had similar feelings. We may not all hit target but we are all here supporting each other to do it and every bit we pay back puts in a stronger position with our finances for the future.

Hope this all makes sense x

Car Finance DD came out so thats £125 away again this month lol and also paid £14.06 towards Cap One to cover interest rounding up my bank account nicely

    brings my total to £4422.42 / £7000

things are a bit tight now but only got BOS CC to pay at end of month so just need to reign in spending for the next week and a half and not go into the overdraft and we'll be fine which means we've been on holiday this month, paid out over £200 for DD's birthday and still managed to pay off debts and stay within budget

this would never have happened a couple of years ago :j

Big hug DDFW - I am sure you are doing everything you can to achieve your target - it is hard. Thank you for posting your encouragement though.

I know I wont reach my target for the year and it used to bother me but now I see it as a goal post and if I dont quite make it this year I will roll it over to next year. All you can do is keep trying and keep going. I have just discovered that my car will need probably two new tyres for the MOT in August which will have to come out of any overpayments I would have made. I just see it now that as long as I dont respend on the car and am as thrifty as I can be - I have GOT to be in a better position than I was at the beginning of the year. :)

Aww, don't feel down DDFW, (I know that's easier said than done) but I know how hard you do work to do your overpayments, so what you've done is fantastic, especially considering your FT wage!

Thanks for the post though, I think we all feel the same way every so often, and I too like to hear how others are paying off the debts.

Every single penny we overpay helps, and it helps with the motivation to others as well. We will all get there eventually! :)
