Every little helps. This month is the worst for me, my overpayment is rubbish. I should overpay by another £1000 at the end of this month but more likely it will be £300. Not good but hopefully August will be better.
A £300 overpayment is still pretty impressive though!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
I've paid another £6 today (£2 counts towards this challenge) which I think makes me 7/10 payments made. Getting very skint now though.
I would just like to say, in case anyone is lurking and feeling a bit down that they can't/don't make huge overpayments each month, that although some people on this thread are managing large overpayments, there are plenty of people who manage to make overpayments of a few pounds each month.
Although there is plenty of talk about us not hitting our targets and aiming for the million pound mark, it is all light hearted and part of the challenge and to keep us motivated. EVERY overpayment counts, even if it is just a few pence. If anyone who looks at this challenge is just inspired to find one extra pound to pay towards their debt that they otherwise would not have, then to my mind it is a success.
You don't need to have a huge target to be successful, you don't need to make huge overpayments to be successful or welcome on here, as they say, 'every penny counts'"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Oh and one more thing, if you are lurking and do find that extra pound, then please do join in on here as it takes us closer to that million
:D:D:D

I think its also important to remember you are doing it for YOU. For me paying off a credit card that I had been paying interest only on for nearly 5 years was a huge achievement and I too wont be debt free by the end of the year but this challenge has really made me change my way of thinking and as you say 'every penny counts'
I was tempted to buy something that I didnt really need the other day on the credit card with the assumption that I would pay it back with my 'extra payment' money but I went through the 'do I need it - can I afford it .....' but the biggest factor was 'I wont be able to update my challenge figures' lol.0 -

SMall overpayment to barclaycard of £16.720

I know that my overpayments are huge but so does my target. We can afford the overpayments because we have good salaries but we do know that this can change anytime and therefore put all our money towards the debt-the sooner it pays off,the better for us.
Can I just suggest that those who are feeling down by huge overpayments should change these into %? As some of you with smaller targets, smaller overpayments are doing better in % than us, who has a long way to go. Chin up everyone, this thread is a huge support for me and keeps me motivated, focused!0 -
