Jwil - as you are doing a mid-month update i'll pop my little overpayments on here now total: £3621.88/10,000
i also have a bit of a confession to make
I have been feeling a bit down of late for personal reasons - and the debt obviously doesn't help :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: anyways i always keep up to date with posts as i do find them motivational but the other day, and i know its completely ridiculous
:o:o, i was seeing how much further ahead other people are who have a similar goal to mine and felt really down
Well, i gave myself a stern talking to
and obviously my rational side returned. This is a challenge - we all set our own targets which we hope to achieve but which are a bit of a stretch too, anything that we pay off puts us in a stronger / better position. We all also have our own circumstances - my wage from my f/t job doesn't pay £10,000 a year - what was i thinking lol :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I have also had other things effect my ability to make overpayments - car breaking down, maintenance jobs on house that couldn't wait etc. But this thread means i am focused on my repayments and the support from everyone is brilliant. Its also nice to hear how people have raised the funds for overpayments as when i read someone has made money from e-bay etc. that gives me a push in the right direction and i think 'right, i'll sort something out and get items listed' and it is brilliant when they sell :T so thank you for posting up how where the funds have come from for the payments / overpayments
My payments so far have been MS money, cashback and some e-bay funds
I've put this post on just in case there are people who have joined and not updated or updated a while ago who may have had similar feelings. We may not all hit target but we are all here supporting each other to do it and every bit we pay back puts in a stronger position with our finances for the future.
Hope this all makes sense x
I sometimes look at other peoples posts on the various boards and think 'how on earth can they pay that much off!?', but you can't judge yourself on how others are doing because you simply don't know their circumstances.
For example, there was one person I saw in a different thread who was paying huge amounts off.... turned out he was living with parents, not paying any rent or utilities, no dependants and was literally chucking every penny he earned at the debt.
What matters is that we are all overpaying something because every penny makes a difference. :T
Don't be so harsh on yourself! You set yourself a goal to pay the equivalent of your entire years pay towards debt! £3.6k is immense! :beer:Parents - £4000/£0 paid
OH parents - £9000/£0 paid
Mortgage - £125,000/£0 overpayments0 -

Wow, so close, well done!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Thanks for the updates everyone. I've paid another £2 this morning so that's 6/10 payments made now.
Off to do the mid month update now."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
So far this month we have paid £25,643.46 which is less than half of last month's total, and £16k less than our previous total.
We have however, broken the £400k paid back mark which is fantastic, but well short of our million pound target.
Keep going everyone! It would be great to make the million, but every penny we pay off still counts!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

Oh dear!
Summer holidays will kill the challenge a bit I think. I predict that come september there'll be a whole flurry of anxious debtfreewannabes really pulling their fingers out again and rueing the extras they've put on their credit cards!
Talking of which, we're trying to plan a trip to Legoland. THE PRICE! my god. Even with offers you still need a small fortune. And then I can just imagine what the bloody gift shop is like. ARGH!0 -
Next month won't be great for me paying off wise:( Still owe BF £150 for holiday and need spends as we go before the next pay day and moving house so probably won't try and pay too much incase things move quicker than expected and I get in a pickle!Debt free and busy treating myself:)
No more toiletries/make up until I've used what I've got stashed since Jan 2011, graduated October 2012. Restocked Dec 13..damn those sales0 -
no doubt we'll get a push from people paid at the end of the month, i still think its a fantastic total what with people going on holidays, kids off school (in scotland) etc

Hi all,
Great numbers for the year so far . . . . well done!!! :j
Can I please change my target from £4500 to £5251. I put my car insurance on my credit card, as the 0% offer for 9 months was much cheaper than paying monthly instalments.
Thanks
