I've paid off another £40 off Nat West today, that's probably the last overpayment until tenant pays his overdue rent arrears again. Can I ask some advice please? How is everyone tackling their debt? One debt at a time or a bit off everything each month? Oh, my new total is £633/£5000.

Generally I imagine people are paying off the highest interest debt first, which is what I did, got rid of the 16% over drafts and now I'm working on the 0% credit cards. Out of the 2 cards I'm throwing everything at the one whose deal is ending soonest, but in general I like to pay one off at a time so I can see a 'zero' on my spread sheet quicker :D

    Hi svb53

I pay my minimum payments to all debts each month and the overpayments are all going to 1 account until thats paid off and then i can start overpaying the next account and so on. i keep it all in my sig so i know where i'm up to

Like Deeperblue said i am sure alot of people will tackle the highest interest account first. I chose the card with the lowest balance though as there wasn't too much between the interest rates and personally i was hoping to find it more motivational - that i'd actually paid one thing off totally! In the meantime i've managed to open a 0% card so balance transferred alot of the £6000+ debt to that :eek::eek: Still working on clearing that first target but each month all the balances are reducing ;)
