Jwil, is it cheating to include a payment to a debt that isn't mine? I'm paying my mum's council tax debt, so while I don't count it in my sig as my debt, I'm still paying a significant amount to it.

Hi phoenix dragon, I would say it's entirely up to you. There are no 'rules' as such, so whatever works for you.

To my mind, I guess a debt is a debt and the aim of this challenge is to reduce debt. So if *someone's* debt is reducing as a result of your payments, then why not? :)

hi - well done to everyone trying so hard :D

I am sorry to report that I am no further forward this month. I did minimum payments only as (a) moved house, (b) went to Sardinia with Mum (who had bought tickets) to visit her sister there and ended up buying some perfume there :D and (c) went to Edinburgh to see Bon Jovi (OH had bought tickets as Xmas pressie) and I ended up buying the T-Shirt !!:o Well I have waited 20 years to see them :D

Life is now back to normal and a big MS month for July is planned. So I will be back with a better balance soon :D

Right, I've been slacking in the overpayment stakes recently, so I'm going to challenge myself to make more payments next month, in the style of the payment a day thread and the no spend day challenge.

I don't think I'll be able to make a payment each day, but I'm going to aim for some additional payments.

My loan comes out on 3rd, I get paid on last day of the month so most payments take place then, and then I also have DDs for CCs come out on two days during the month.

So that means on an average month I make 4 payments towards my debts, and the last couple of months have been tight so really that's been about it.

This month then, I am going to aim to make a payment towards my debt on 10 days of the month including my four days - 6 additional payments.

This month is another tight one, so I'm not being too ambitious, and I'm not going to have a minimum I'm allowed to pay either - so even if it's 1p, I want to make some form of payment just to keep me motivated.

I will start from tomorrow, because although it's not the start of my calendar month, it's the start of my wages month.

If you want to join me please do, otherwise give me a kick to get me making those payments :D

Sounds like a good plan - I found payment a day too stressful so I am going for extra payments a week :D Definitely need to get back on the diaries too for some extra motivation.

    Good Luck :)
