Yep, don't do BARE stuff unless it's all ok as sorting things out post-job can be a wee bit tricky.

Ha, I always figured cat shops were to do with felines, just seen the light. :)

.... and I said "bling" just in case there are spies in the camp (one never knows).
  • Just popped in to say hi

I've just signed up with a load of MS companies to earn a bit of extra cash (no - I haven't seen Mary Portas on the TV...) and spent the last 2 days reading this thread!!

I signed up on Tuesday, and have already done a burger job for Gap, a pizza job for RE. Got a phone shop for GfK booked in on Monday, and another burger job for Gap in a week's time. From reading all the posts, I know these aren't great jobs, or for particularly brilliant companies, but I'm prepared to serve my time and do these before hopefully getting something better further down the line!

I have a quick question for anyone who's done a pizza job for RE....I went straight on the website to do the report (after eating the pizza :rotfl:) and couldn't do it as the phone call hadn't been uploaded. It said to come back in 24 hours, but I'm a bit concerned that I'll have missed the deadline for the report.....how long does it usually take for the MP3 phonecall to hit the website?

    Thanks!

    Hi Katie

    Welcome to MSE and MSing.

The MP3 pops up quite quickly. Check tomorrow, and you should be in luck.

I am deliberately not mentioning the MS company name in case they are watching us!

In these days of ever-spiralling-downwards fees, how long do you guys think it will it be before the two different types of visits (bling and main) get combined into a single job?

I'm finding that I can make these jobs worthwhile by doing bling and main at the same time: it amazes me that there are MSers picking up one but not the other (unless they are constrained by rotations).

    Don't give them ideas!

D'ya know, I thought the same thing yesterday as I did my bling and normal visit. Why are they 2 jobs? Seems a bit silly. The fee that you get for the 2 together makes the visit a good one compared to other similar standard jobs, but can't see how much longer they'll stay 2 jobs.

Welcome and well done for signing up to loads of companies. Don't hold your breath while you wait for jobs from some of them (just be patient and persistent - keep applying and you will get one one day .... you get a chance to prove your worth).

RE mp3 uploads ....... how long is a piece of string? Just keep checking back. You won't get hold of anyone at RE before Monday morning. If it isn't there by then, just ring them and tell them you have done your bit, and you're now just waiting on them!!! Loads of hassle, for not a lot of money. But that is RE! Once you have experienced RE, nothing can be worse!

    Good luck!
  • Thanks bylromarha! I guess I'm just worried that I didn't press the right buttons and it's not going to have worked :embarasse

As long as you dialed the number on your paperwork, and followed instructions meaning that you got to order your pizza at the right location, it'll all upload to your account, and if it doesn't it's up to RE to get the technicals to work.

Well I think forums like these definitely have spies - not me though!

A huge contributory factor in fees being reduced is because comments are made about length of time, ease of job etc are often made on here and elsewhere.
Sadly I feel you are right however it will make the job longer in the waiting around and shoppers more conspicuous to my mind. Having combined both in the past it does make a longer shop and I took decision to alternate them as that suits my working method better. I don't see the point in cramming everything in an area one month only to have a dried up couple of weeks the following. So much better pace it. This has worked well for me over the years and I feel I do a better job because of it. Means I don't get brain dead doing the same thing all in one go.

As for the cat jobs...I think you may have set the timer...

That's why I specified no MS company and "bling" rather than what we usually say!!;)
