This year's report here:
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/products/258424/headlamp_bulbs_tested.html
That report is for the H4, is the H4 a double filament, whereas the H1 is a single?0 -
HID kits from china are not E Marked and are not standard replacements so be careful if your thinking of
buying these. New MOT rules coming next year should fail them.
Pictures i have seen are either too blue which may be the look your after but performance is actually down compared to
standard bulbs. Also most of the kits dont dip to the left so give an even spread of light which causes glare to
oncoming drivers.
Expect lots of posts "my lights have failed the MOT" next year.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
If changing headlight bulbs for higher wattage ones... as said in an earlier post you may run the risk of melting the existing wiring due to the new lamps pulling more 'juice' than the standard bulbs...
(TECHIE BIT WARNING)
A pair of 100w bulbs will pull 17 amps (which is a lot of 'juice')
most standard headlight bulbs are around the 55/60w mark, so you'll be trying to draw nearly twice the power of the standard bulbs , using the standard wiring intended to power forementioned standard bulbs.... NOT GOOD.
The solution is easy though... all you need is two automotive relays, some crimp connectors and some wire man enough for the job
did try and include a diagram, but new user and cant post links0 -

I don't want to use bulbs over 55w.
Really, I just want to know what the best/brightest/longest reaching bulbs I can put into my car without any modification0
