H1 Main Headlight Car Bulbs - Which to buy?

We bought them from Halfords- of top of my head think they weren't all that much-

Found the prices fairly similar in a lot of places, Ebay's always good for them- Xenon are mine, I think.

You should be able to find your bulbs there. Note the car names don't mean it only fits that car, its just helpful for n00bs who don't know what they need.

The philips and osram high quality bulbs will be an improvement from the standard ones. If you have projector headlights then spend a little more and get HID xenon, they are far, far superior to even the highest quality halogens. I have been using them for over 2 years and will not ever want to go back to halogen again.

How do I know if I have projector headlights?

I've got an X reg Golf, still with the standard headlights I believe

Yeah lol! Newbie I know they're not HIDs but they're a lot better than the stock bulbs. HIDs would require a conversion kit at great expense, and even then its only semi legal.

hid kits are now available at around £50 a friend has some and they have lasted 3 years and hes only changed one bulb so they seem to be of good quality but i guess there will be some rogue kits about.

if you do put higher wattage bulbs in dont go too high - as from experience i lost a wiring loom in a meltdown and had some head lap distortion but i rewired and changed to head light glass rather than plastic

I dont really want to modify my car, but it would be interesting to see a Golf with HIDs in so I can compare against Xenon bulbs
