  • Golden rules for Mr Asda ( and they are sometimes beyond incompetant, sometimes! )

If you dont get your ( several ) items which they say you should on the list , ring the store first not the 0844 number ( 5PPM thanks asda! ) chances are doughnut driver has not taken them off the van

If you do have to ring the 0844 number use 0500 100055 ( Select option 1 followed by option 1 to be put through to same menu as is on the 0844 number. or 020 7133 7970 for CS so not to incur a fee. Make sure you whinge away about this is costing you money to complain that its their mess etc and what are they going to do to compensate you. Depending what it is....Now I have to drive somewhere etc...

Chances are they will give you an evoucher for next delivery....

Ocado don't deliver to my postcode, probably because Waitrose Deliver do. I've found Sainsbury give the best service. But I am sure it varies by location and local store, and the only thing to do is try them all.

Another vote for Tesco here! Tried Asda and all I can say is NEVER AGAIN!

All the tesco drivers have been very polite and helpful and always told me whats not there/substituted before they walk in my door.

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

Same here, tried ASDA once and from 46 items ordered 16 were substitued or not available.

Tesco are great but their price match policy means generally if your item is out of stock it gets replaced with a smaller/cheaper item to avoid them paying out, which is irritating if say you order 1kg of Tesco pasta and you get 500g of branded pasta as a 'Price Match Substitution'. Otherwise very happy with Tesco home delivery.

Ocado and Waitrose Deliver are NOT the same company.

Ocado have their own centres where the orders come out of and just happen to sell Waitrose own products.

Waitrose Deliver comes from the Waitrose stores.

Sainsburys deliver from Superstores, but can cover up to 30 miles from it so it might not be the nearest one to you, can be the next town's store especially if its bigger.

Sainsburys charge the price of the substition at its normal price. So you would get the closest possible in terms of price, weight etc. But it does mean sometimes you pay more, but sometimes you pay less. At the end of the day, return it if its not suitable. But question this, what would you pick if you was shopping it yourself and want that item, sometimes even YOU would get the more expensive one!

Thank you, but though Waitrose, Ocado, and John Lewis are officially separate companies, Ocado is part-owned by John Lewis. Ocado and Waitrose had agreements on where Waitrose Deliver would trade. (I am aware Ocado has its own centres.) "Just happen to sell Waitrose products"? Well, maybe....

As for local, well, it happens that my Tesco, Waitrose, and Tesco deliveries come from "local" stores (I live in a big city, in an inner-city suburb, near the large supermarkets. But let me change my wording to meet your objection.

    Edited version:

I'm in Ashford, Kent. I got waitrose within sight of my apartment window and they do deliveries out of that store. Ocado deliveries from Maidstone, 20 minutes away lol. I can get both of them here, but no point since I'm a Sainsburys online driver and use my discount card from sainsburys to make the shopping cheaper! (But I love waitrose..... just don't tell sainsburys lol)

Tesco tried that with me but I complained so they refunded

I dont use it so much recently (unless have a decent money off voucher) but have always used Tesco and any problems have been sorted and refunded. And you can email your complaint and get them to ring you

One tip though is if you are ordering something on special at so many for whatever price I state not to send any if they cant fulfil the whole amount to get the special. Surprising how often they are out of stock :rotfl:
