Supermarket home delivery, views?

I'm getting seriously fed up with Mr A, the last few orders have had missing items and short even same day dates on fresh items, today was the final straw when the guy turned up 45 late and drove off whilst I was actually checking the order and all the fresh items were missing, Mr A was then unable to contact the driver, or rearrange delivery in the next couple of days. So I was wondering if any of the supermarkets are better than the others?

  • I've found the best is Ocado. It is unusual for items to be substituted and have never had a missing item. The drivers are always professional and helpful.
  • I don't think Asda's produce is particularly good in store either.

I use Tesco for home delivery and have never had a problem, I occasionally get substitutions but they've not been weird things and the drivers taken back anything I don't want. I've not had a problem with fresh stuff either, though I still prefer Morrisons but they don't do delivery

    HTH's.
  • I think it varies from area to area.
I use tescos, no problem will carry on. Normally same driver and he is really helpful, once a large proportion of my order had gone awol. The driver sorted there and then. Hardly any sub items. plus clubcard points, and extra green points for no carrier bags :)

I use Tesco and never had any problems. I rarely find items substituted and only once have I had to ask for a substituted item to be returned which was done without any problems and a refund was promptly issued to my card.

Even in the recent hazardous weather, they still delivered my order within the time period and without any problems. I always find I get different drivers but they're always very friendly and professional.

Tesco also seem to do a good job with the short product life items, usually managing to deliver me those that have four or more days to go before their expiry date.

I've been using asda weekly now for a couple of years and on the whole they are ok, i have had problems with dates and some items being squashed. Probably the worst experience was my xmas week order last year, was due at 4pm and after numerous phonecalls still hadnt arrived at midnight. To cut a long story short it turned out the driver just dumped the van and went home!!!!! So not looking forward to my xmas order this year lol

I've only ever used Tesco for home delivery and have never had any problems which weren't rectified. They do occasionally substitute items, but you can opt to not receive any substitutions. Anything that I've had and don't want the driver takes back with them and a couple of days later I have the refund back on my card. I've only stopped using them recently because I've found Sainsbury's in store to be cheaper, but haven't tried their delivery yet.

  • I use Tesco and have encountered no problems, but then again I dont order every week. If I have had a substitute it has been for a more expensive item of the same ilk. I used Asda once and was not impressed, but then again I dont particularly like Asda in store either.

I've used Tesco and Ocado and Ocado are far better. Regularly used to shop with Tesco and had a fair few problems with them: I'm also not keen on hte 2 our time slots as they always seem to turn up right at the end of the slot (unless it's a late one!). Ocado drivers are really good, carry the shopping right in, take time whilst you check it etc. Ocado do price match Tesco on branded goods and have just start their own own brand range that's pretty good.

  • Another vote here for Mr T, I've had home delivery for a few years now and can't recall too many hiccups. Occasionally there's a silly subsitution, eg I ordered mini roast pots for the kids and got hash browns. Surely there were other roast pots to choose? Anyhow, I declined the hash browns and within 2 or 3 days the money was back on my card. I used Asda once (only becuase there was 10 quid off for first timers), buut am not overly impressed with their website, always so slow for me. Tesco is easy, everything is saved so I can get an order done quite quickly.
