I strongly disagree. As I work for a large FMCG I read The Grocer every week. For anyone who hasn't read it they do a comparison of all the major retailers every week on a varying basket of branded and own label goods.

Almost every week Asda are the cheapest and the only retailer who does occaionally beat them on price is Morrisons.

Tesco are nearly always significantly more expensive than either Asda or Morrisons and often more expensive than Sainsbury's.

Ocado are always the most expensive by a long way and they are always much more expensive than Waitrose.

I use Sainsburys, never tried any other. Am quite happy with them because they always come within the delivery slot time, drivers are friendly and the food usually has a long shelf life.
I use substitutes and they pick good ones i must say. Am always willing to give another product a try. The last time I ordered walls soft scoop instead it was substituted with the walls soft scoop light I didn't even get a difference in taste and the light (as they say is much healthy for the hips):D, so now I get light:).

I tried sainsburys a t the weekend and was impressed, can't really compare the bill as I got some extra bits in for Christmas.

Seem to remember when I did a my supermarket comparison that sainsburys was more expensive than ocado, wait rose wasn't listed.

Another vote for Waitrose from me. As some of the other posters have said do not confuse Waitrose Deliver with Ocado, they are not the same company. Waitrose are great, Ocado are expensive and I haven't been at all impressed with their service.

I'm very impressed by Waitrose now. Tesco cancelled 2 deliveries because of snow, the first without bothering to tell me, the second by text. Waitrose -- the local store -- rang a day in advance to say they'd have to cancel, but would pack and hold the order if I liked. I managed to find a taxi company who can pick it up, Waitrose will ring me when it's ready.

Sainsbury's my regular online store but they were booked up right through Christmas and New Year very early.

Have to say my vote goes to Tesco.:D

Especially after them just delivering my Christmas grocery order despite there being over a foot of snow here and snowing at the moment :eek:
Neighbours that had their orders booked with Sainsburys and Ocado have had their deliveries cancelled.:(

It's not very often that I praise Mr T (if you read through my previous posts you'll get what I mean) but on this occaision I'm really impressed..........and also very grateful.

i've tried them all and have found sainsburys to be the best quality and service though i 'm sure it varies from one area to another, would like morrisons to do home delivery
