i guessed no conditions would apply if i just clear one completely?
personally I wouldn't risk assuming this, quite often there is a financial penalty for paying off early whether as OPs or completely paying it off... If you find a geographical number via http://www.saynoto0870.com/ is it not cheaper to call via skype or with a pre-paid card? Surely far cheaper than the potential penalty? Or dig out your original mortgage documents and read through them?
Not sure if i reply to this as well as the online function but seen some on here updated after mine so sorry if I duplicate.

You shouldn't need to, but I screwed up and erroneously marked your online update as updated, so thanks for posting here too :T

No. 117 Checking in for March. Not such a great one this month, £857.

Suspect we will actually go into reverse next month due to a litany of household failures. Laptops and TV died, and car failed MOT - which will mean pillaging some offset funds. :(

We'll get there though. Have really noticed the increasing price of fuel this month too.

    Cheers,

    Drew.

    Hi Guys

A couple of days ago I received a 'goodwill payment' from Halifax (SVR T&C issue) which had the net result of reducing my Mortgage balance by £850 and therefore taking further 5 months off the life

I have mixed feelings about the whole Halifax SVR Goodwill thing at the moment - which I shan't bore you with I had wee rant on another thread - but I can't deny the fact that I'm chuffed at having this reduction.

Don't worry though - I don't regard this as an OP of any kind (although strictly speaking, it came out of my pocket int he first place)..........I shall soldier on regardless, scrimping and saving, forgoing Sanctuary Bubble Bath, new shoes, World Cinema DVD's and a weekly Frappacino from Starbucks....... as I trundle down this lonely road of OP's . Good job I have you guys.

Today an OP of £208 has left my account and should be reflected in Mortgage balance in couple of days. This was just my Budgeted OP - can't find anything else at present and don't think I'll do any more this month (think I thought that last month but I mean it this time)

Was aware that I needed to change 2 tyres on car in next couple of months. Have a car fund in savings so no biggie. Had a puncture in one of them last night and decided given the tread depth it wasn't worth a repair and also decided that as I was changing one I would change the other. And the tracking was out so that was an extra cost. I only have a fiesta thank goodness but am £186 lighter this morning which I'm feeling rather sulky about. I would have prefered to shop around for tyres but I needed it doing this morning.

Have a great weekend. I'm going to wallow in my sulk a while longer and then have a good word with myself ;) One thing that does cheer me up is gazing at my mortgage spreadsheet :rotfl:

Quick question, sorry if it's not supposed to go here but I figured it's not worth a thread of it's own... I phoned C&G and asked them to make my overpayments reduce my monthly payment, but they only applied this to one single payment I have made, and not all of the others (about £10k worth) - they assure me it's now impossible to apply to bring my payments down lower and it's just taken the term time down instead - something I really didn't want. Is this right? If so I'm almost considering switching mortgages just to get my monthly payments down :/

The "default" action should have been specified in the mortgage documents, if the documents say the default is to reduce the term then that it is right. Can you dig them out and have a look? Otherwise is it possible to apply to increase the term independent of your OPs? Would most likely involve a credit check etc but you'd have that if you apply to another mortgage company anyway...

(Not that it's any comfort to you, but my bank are the opposite and reduce the payments by default which is what I really don't want :-/)
