Just realised that I've been missing in action and haven't posted on this thread at all this year.
Not much in the way of overpaying has happened, just lots of spending - new dinning room suite, new fence, new glasses, daughter's wedding and a wee holiday
So - all in one go OPs of
    Jan - £349.45
    Feb -£533.71
    March -£351.62
Promise I'll try to do better or at least keep up with the thread

Keep up the good work Sassyblue - you've achieved 28% of your target and only 25% of the year has expired! You're ahead of the game!

Thanks, yes you're right :j After costing everything out l really thought we could OP £1000 every month :rotfl: but we're still renovating - albeit finishing touches - so every month there is something bought and finished on the house.

I'm also about 1/3rd done on Christmas shopping and l've bagged some brilliant presents thanks to the grabbit board, so all in all, not too bad.

Good luck and WELL DONE to us all so far.

    Happy moneysaving all.

Thank you for keeping the updates coming even when I've been off the radar, and especially to curlygirl for keeping everyone going :j:T:beer:

as my bank are lowering my savings rates i am now considering paying down an amount--something i have never tried!

İ have two mortgages that equal the amount oustanding--i am just coming up to being able to clear mortgage A but i am wondering if it is better to keep both of them going along as it doubles the amount i can pay in over the year?-i dont even know what my bank allows per year so i am really starting seeking!

    Thanks cake--i am NO 68 now!(oh for 69 lol)
    mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.

I would say the first job is to find out what the conditions are for both your mortgages and consider all the points curlygirl raised about savings/emergencies :D. After that...if your overpayments aren't limited I would overpay whichever mortgage has the higher interest rate.

Someone raised the question (sorry forgotten who) about increasing interest rates - if they do increase gradually as expected I will be aiming to keep my OP standing order the same but try and economise in other areas, and if that doesn't work and I have to reduce the OPs, I will celebrate the OPs that I did make :j

Due to living abroad i tend to keep phone calls short and sweet to banks!! and they do ramble once you ask conditions --they tend to think i am living in the uk! both mortgages are on at 2pc, i dont want to leave myself short so probably clearing mortgage A straight off would leave me potless--i guessed no conditions would apply if i just clear one completely?
