is a link to the 2012 MFW quest.
I've literally copied what cake did, so I can't take any credit from it!
Am hoping having several helpers will spread the workload fairly, so no-one feels overworked or burdened by this, which should be a fun challenge.

Nice one. Hadn't noticed you'd started that thread as I put my offer to run a 2012 challenge on the table this morning...

  • Scraped £57 together today.
That means OP #157 of £2527 yay.

In my capacity as OM's little helper, this has been updated for you together with post number 1038. The total on the spreadsheet was showing as £20 short of your total above, though, so I have logged the OP as £127 for Nov!
  • Thanks madeup!

    Hi lighthousescotland,

Well done on the December OP! :T

If you work out the total you are aiming for over 2012 then one of us will add you to the 2012 spreadsheet. The thread is here.

    See you all later,

  • Thanks for all the admin and encouragement on this challenge during the year Cake - glad to see you around again.

Fantastic to see all the 'new' names taking an interest and joining in for next year. I remember in late 2009 lurking around and thinking 'I can't join in, I can't OP enough' but with just a smidgen of encouragement I joined up to MFW2010.

In 2010 I challenged myself to OP by £2000 and I beat that.
This year I challenged myself to OP by £6000 (I knew I was getting a bonus) and I've already beat that.
For 2012 I want to OP at least £2760......so still not a great deal compared to some but every pound REALLY DOES COUNT.

I'd been OP'ing small amounts since June 08 (Between £10 and £50 a month), then I joined this challenge and with the added motivation and following MSE tips, I found that I was OP'ing an average of £240 a month plus extras like my Bonus.........As of today I've shaved
61 months off the life of my Mortgage and my balance is £11341 less than it would be today if I'd never OP'd.

So if anyone is reading this thinking their little amounts don't count - oh yes they do....and it's amazing what a little encouragement can achieve.
