  • MFW #48 reporting in...

Latest overpayment of 2011 was made on the 15th November 2011
    Overpayment target: £1200
    November overpayment : £10:p
Overpayments to date: £1210 (Target exceeded)

My overall mortgage status is now:

    Mortgage at 17/09/2011
    Outstanding balance: £46,812
Estimated endowment value: £27,053 (revalued 1 October)
    Investments: £15,332
    Deficit: -£4,427

For my information on the damage I'm doing to the mortgage, here's the link to my diary...

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...1854517&page=4

My overpayments since Jan 09 will also save me an estimated £1,299 before my original target MF date of September 2014.

My overpayment reserve is £7,960, now well over 51 months regular mortgage payments.

My last overpayment was an ad hoc payments. There may be more before sept 2012 this will depend on the performance of the endowment and investments.

I had a predicted surplus of £1,748 in September, its now £671.
The stretch target of September 2012 still remains the target (10 months to go and counting....)

I have now moved onto the Nationwide BMR of 2.5%, and my mortgage payments have fallen by £197 pm since September 2011. I am going to use this money to top up my investment fund, split approx 50/50 between cash and equity investments. The target for these investments is a average yield of 3.5%, 1% above the mortgage rate.

Investments have fallen back since I last reported (well mostly! See the diary link above), and the overall strategy remains in place. With the fall in mortgage payments, I have now rounded the final bend and the finishing line is in sight.

Good to see everyone else's progress. Keep the faith!

  • I'm trying to see if I'm able to create a simple spreadsheet up and running for the final month - except I don't know when it's been last updated etc...
If anyone can help, I'll post what I've done in an hour or so, then we will see if we can create an accurate spreadsheet for this year.

So I've copied the info and put it broadly in a sensible format and have uploaded it to a google spreadsheet which can be found here:
Disregard. ORIGINAL email has now been given over to me- see first page!

It appears that cake's taken the old one with him/her.

If anyone would like to have access to edit this, it requires a bit of tidying up/improving (Last update - August 2011 for example) please inbox me and tell me what spreadsheet skills you have! It would be great if in future several people have access to these "mission critical" files so that if anything goes wrong like with cake, the spreadsheet can carry on.

Thanks in advance for reading, and let's see if we can get this completed and tidied up by the end of this year.

  • And if I get it working now, we have a template to work on for other money saving challenges, which I can happily share with other people, should they want it or are able to improve and refine it.

Hello everyone! Thank you very much for the concern shown and huge apologies for abandoning you once again. Change of job and life in general has got in the way

The good news is that you will now be in the capable hands of originalmiscellany who deserves a round of applause for stepping into the breach :T

    cake21,

Will you be starting a 2012 challenge, as I would like to join?
No I won't be...perhaps originalmiscellany will but let's give them a chance to finish up 2011 first :D

In the meantime, any other 2012 MFWs out there could share their OPs in this thread
