  • Heres my story:
Ordered a polo shirt 16th November, several weeks and unanswered E-mails later, no shirt.
Reading this forum and others set alarm bells ringing.
Reported the company to Amazon (where they had a sponsered link),
    Consumer Direct and my bank.
Visa debit intiated the 'goods not received' refund procedure to get money back and suggested the card be cancelled and replaced.
Received a couple of sorry E-mails and goods dispatched message.
Long since given up when low and behold today the shirt turned up!
    Recorded, next day delivery!
  • I placed my order on 15 Nov expecting delivery within 5-10 working days however I received an e-mail on 20 Dec stating that there was an issue with delivery of stock and if I wanted to cancel I should inform them. I then received an e-mail on 22 Dec informing me my order had been cancelled but worringly no mention of a refund!!! I have subsequently sent The Big Store numerous e-mails over the past few weeks and surprisingly not one response. Having now read the threads above I have contacted my bank (HBOS) and they have created a Debit Card Dispute form. Fingers crossed!!!!!! On the bright side the website is no longer active so nobody else will be ripped off. I so wish I lived near Northweald........
  • Hi
i also got the email today after trying to contact them for the last month without any reply, i was going to ask for a refund untill i noticed the website has gone. I paid on my debit card and after contacting my bank and closing my account 2 weeks ago i was told i should be refunded the money after 28 days , i have also contacted the police. These people are the scum of the earth.
  • Hi Lambykins
pleased your shirt turned up, what make is it and does it seem real or just a fake.?
  • I placed an order with the big store on the 27th December. Still not received item and had no correspondance at all from them. I cannot find the website. I checked my bank statement and the money was taken on Jan 6th by Izooba.com. There was a phone number as the reference and I have been calling it non stop with no answer.

I too have had a problem with this company. I did receive my item but my son was sure that the lyle & Scott polo shirt was 'fake' and to be honest it wasn't that much cheaper than an original. So i have returned it. But this was the 15th Dec and surprisingly have not received a refund.....Checked the website today and can see it has closed. Will try my credit card co. to see if they will help. Don't you just despise companies like this!
  • Hi davey h,

  • Brilliant help!!!!! Thats what this website is all about!!! Thank you very much for your time, effort and advice!!! :T

I've been done too. Cannot believe it. I contacted my bank (HSBC) and as I paid by debit card, they said there is nothing they can do. They told me to either keep an eye out for any further unusual activity or close my account. Is that it? Can this awful business honestly get away with this? What action should I take next? I have completed the web complaint form to companies house.
