It's usually called the 'favicon' I think?
I've still got it.
Clearing your browser cache might force it to be reloaded perhaps?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

MSE normal service at present.
If my theory is correct as to what is causing problem - then I expected it to be okay now...
Anyway - whatever the reason - as at this moment its business as usual on MSE:)
If problem starts again - I'll try the Firefox browser I've also got installed and see what the result is. Boy...I'm such a techno-idiot that I'll cross fingers first before trying to swop browsers...but an experiment worth trying if problem starts again..0 -
BTW - Can anyone explain (in very simple language) how to tell what version of Internet Explorer I have? (having just scanned the news to see what is happening - I understand that earlier versions of Internet Explorer are more vulnerable to attack).
DUH - I have no idea what version of I.E. I have or how to tell and I'm such a techno-idiot that it gives me the collywobbles every time I find anything on my p.c. has been changed from anywhere...and I have to "find my way round" all over again...
(if I didnt have a fair dose of intuition in there I'd never darn well manage to use computers at all I sometimes think.......)0 -
You must be right, fermi. The favicon is Martin on my firefox. I had to do a systems restore after having used an SPSS software which made my laptop go funny. Since then the favicon on ie has changed. I'm doing some work online, so can't clear the cookies yet, but at least I now know that it's an error on my end.
ceridwen, click on the help button on top and when it falls down it says 'what's new in IE8' and you'd know you have IE8. I get confused on that as well each time a restore is done, many buttons appear and many vanish and it's tedious to keep up with the changes and updates.0 -
Thanks Meher.
Just found "help" in top line and duly clicked and been able to check which version I have.:T0
