Just had a quick check (re wikileaks) to see what is going on and if anything is likely to affect MSE.

Answer - something is quite definitely going on and clearly summat pretty big is planned for 9pm tonight - but I cant figure out what it is - as its in coded language I dont understand.

    Where does it say that?

Why would it have an impact on MSE?

imwikileaks on twitter - where I'm following the progress of the cyberwar.

Just wondering whether MSE might caught up in the wash a bit because its a major website and who knows what some of the wilder element on Anonymous might do. I wondered whether there might be anyone there who takes it into their head to have a go at ANY major website as a trial run ....

I dont pretend to understand some of the thinking going on ...<scratches head>

....and I'm still having problems with the MSE website. Just clicked back into it again and had to have a couple of goes before I got through.

Other websites are okay for me...

EDIT: just got that slowly spinning (ie waiting) circle when I went to click edit on previous post. I've had that one too a few times...

Well, MSE shares hosts with some other high profile sites.

I would hope that the systems are set up so that an attack against one site doesn't impact on the others, but you never know?

There were a lot of server problems a while back before the wikileaks stuff, so I suspect it's much more likely to be related to that or similar problem?

Whatever it is - its been a real fight to get through and make my clicks to threads and putting on posts work the last couple of days or so. Very hit and miss at the moment..

So - lets hope it gets sorted out soon.

EDIT: Who are Uk Payments Administration? Are they some sort of body that might transmit money - ie instead of Paypal?

    Agreed.

It would be nice if Webby or someone else could reply to say that they are at least aware of the problem and are trying to sort it?

Alas, as it's the weekend that may not come till Monday?

    Hopefully I'm wrong about that........

    Fermi

I wonder whether you and I have worked out between us again whats wrong???

Your thought re that whatever-it-is that hosts MSE and other organisations might possibly be an explanation...??? i would have thought MSE would be protected from any backwash against those other groups/firms???
