feel feel to ignore me - but i think you're failing to understand the whole higher education funding crisis (which seems fair enough, as most people not in the sector don't realise how desperate it really is) and are kidding yourself because you want to believe your child will 'only' have to pay £6K.:happyhear0 -

Why don't you back your POV up with some evidence?A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step

(especially since many unis have already been through redundancies already!)

and you seem to be kidding yourself that all students will be charged £9k, even though the government has said this will be exceptional, maybe this is because "you" feel threatened? I have produced evidence to back up my point of view that fees will be £6k you have offered nothing but conjecture. As the previous poster said - where's the evidence?0 -

I don't believe that University Chancellors don't know how much they will charge...0 -

I think the poster meant back up your POV that fees will be £9k for most courses to home students.0 -

Quite frankly there is no point in choosing the course based on the price unless you are choosing a course where you will be almost certain to pay back the loan (eg. medicine, maybe law and economics at top universities).
I've seen two separate calculations on how much you will have to pay back - they weren't the same but they did agree that over half of students will not pay back the loan over the 30 years and this was based on fees of £6k and £7.5k.
This is the fundamental flaw in trying to get universities to compete on price: if students aren't going to be able to pay the loan back then it doesn't matter how much the course costs. The universities and students will realise this soon which will mean there will be no competion on pricing. My opinion anyway!!0 -

OK so we've established they don't know anything.... so if they don't - know why so you keep saying they will charge £9k?0
