i normally chuck the change into a coinstar at morrisons - any views on this ????

Just been lurking. Thought I'd add my tip. Hope that's ok.

I normally chuck all my change into the self service till at Morrisons. If you've overpaid you get bigger coins /notes back. Saves paying commission!!

    I'm in!

Find myself quite low on cash but my start is here:

-Found £6 in £2 coins, started £2 challenge and will use this.
-Started £1 a day and have put in £2 thought is was the 2nd not the 1st... so ahead there!
    - Already have a money pot but will stricter with myself and not dip in.
-Have listed one item on ebay so far.
-Printed form to get my car tax refund
-Made small list of things I could ebay.
    - Started my virtual money pot

Still trying to work out where other money can come from. Am not going to include my 'job'... will include homers if I'd don't need the money to eat.
Might get a few bits from helping my dad.
Have my wrecked car to sell.
Almost finished my first book... will ebook it and/or self-publish
Money earned on ebay will be used to fund my supplements business idea which I'll also run through ebay until it's big enough to warrant it's own website.

Will also be including freebies (if they are something I would otherwise have bought) and loyalty card vouchers if I save the cash they replace.

Am suspecting my main issue is not the 11k, but staying the course. But if I do this, I am debt free, and I'll own my own business and will be able to quit my job.

    Fingers crossed!

Good luck mate, you are thinking on the right lines:beer:

Iv not really found that it matters on ebay.

But its always best to run from sat-sat or sun-sun. More people are at home on a weekend so they are there to bid on the items.
Iv found that items at end during the daytime on a week day dont make as much money as if they had ended at the wekend.

  • wow its just taken me half hour to catch up from my last post! So made my first deposit today :j £5 reward x 2 (Halifax bank acc) for both personal & joint accounts :D its a start :p still not feeling 100% as both me & oh have been struck by a bug.

Got a call from my mother last night offering to give me £10,000! I'm not going to hold my breath as she's barking (long and complicated story :o) so the wind may change before banks are open again! :rotfl:

    Thanks Halight!

I reckon that should keep me busy for most of today then!

Just updated the sig as I've paid 170.76 off one credit card and £25 off another, courtesy of some xmas pennies :)

Also remembered that I have £100 in premium bonds which my numbers have never come up on so I think I will withdraw this and add it to the pot, at least then it will earn some interest for me!

Oh and decided to start my marathon, bulk cooking sessions again to stock up the freezer. When I used to do this it saved quite a bit money wise and there was never the excuse of "Theres nothing in for tea, lets have a takeaway!" So I shall begin with a mammoth batch of Chilli con Carne and Bolognese sauce, same base just tweak the ingredients a bit to get two different meals :D

OK guys, count me in. I am going to aim for £11,000.

I plan to include anything I can make or save including:

Monthly payments to my savings accounts.
Repayments to my account from a loan that a friend is repaying me.
Personal items sold on ebay (loads of books, clothes and bits to clear).
I'll do a carboot with my sister in the summer as well.
Declutter my house to do the previous two things.
Look to move utilities/services to make any savings and count saving.
Shop throughout the year for birthday/christmas presents at the best price available and count saving.
Look to reduce my food shopping budget.
Use up my toiletry mountain before buying anything else!!
Use vouchers/coupons where I can and count saving.
    Save and bank £2.00 coins.
    Save and bank 50p coins.
Squirrel away any loose change and bank.
Move the interest on any of my acounts to my savings (no matter how small).

The point of reducing my food and non food spend is I hope to increase my savings amount further. I'm sure I will think of more as this thread develops.

    Good luck all.

I thought of a couple more.

Save Boots advantage points for gift purchases - count cash saving when exchanged
Save Nectar points for use towards Christmas spend - count cash saving when exchanged
I have a discount card saving 10% off purchases at Sainsburys - count cash saving when used

Again my theory being to increase my savings with the extra available cash I will have by using some of the above methods.
    Boots Card - £17.53, Nectar Points - £15.06 - *Saving for Chrimbo*
    2015 Savings Fund - £2575.00

I was thinking of making cushion covers to sell , does anyone do this ?
If I list them on ebay would I have to say they are hand made ?
would this put people off ?

I make them without zips (to save money) , they just have a fold in the back but look fab. I used to make jewellery long before it became popular , but now its difficult to sell due to so much competition. I also crochet scarfs to sell but they are not in demand now its nearer the end of winter.

Last night my mother in law gave us some packs of yogurts , so I have added that to the total ,lol.
    Kindness costs nothing :)
