  • Hi Jo, who would have guessed it! might have some more bits and pieces to add over the next week - would be nice to hit the 7k, O/H doesnt believe i've managed that much ( wonder where he thinks the money for the holiday, the new TV, the architects fees, planning permission, etc etc came from) stuff we struggled to afford before - but we knew they doubted us way back in the start of this challenge, remember joking about leaving them at home and celebrating christmas in mexico or somewhere cosy last january/february! so anybody new to this dont listen to anybody that doubts you - we've all had that from someone and we've proved them wrong!!!!! was reading your posts about the clutch going on your car - typical, Hope you've managed okay to get things done. well away to look at the grabbits but suppose it'll be quiet tonight, take care

I would like to join also if possible although 11K seems like a hell of alot to me. I am desperate to earn some cash to pay of debts but am housebound at present so my options are limited i think. However im thinking of buying/selling on ebay and the occasional car boot. I have never done any betting before so any advice on that will be appreciated. I could do work from home - phone / typing etc so hopefully i will be able to pick this all up, meet new people and earn some dosh :)
    Grocery Challenge - Jan £4.42/£200.00

    Up my income - £124.00/ £11,000.

I'm going to give this another bash I think! I joined last year and in all fairness did pretty well for the 3 months that I stuck to it. Trouble was I got distracted by the better weather and gave up!

I can't promise to post too often but will read as often as possible. I think that was my downfall last time..... the thread was very fast moving and chatty, so I didn't read it that often as time got tight. Trouble was, I think that might be why my motivation waned........ might only be able to skim though

Will use a selection of the following to make up funds, although £11K seems pretty unlikely!

sell old gold lying around house
    ebay
competitions - well, you never know!
matched betting - curious aversion to trying this, I'm too chicken. Maybe this time I'll get over that and actually start
    mystery shopping
bonus and wage rise - not expecting these but if lucky, they will be counted as 'extra' income
    quidco
interest on savings + gonna switch to premium bonds for kids savings as rates so useless, so if I get lucky, this too! (will let them keep it tho!!)
    bingo - freeplay only!
sell old cd's - music magpie if nothing else
sealed pot for coins - OH does this so it's not 'my' money. But seeing as I bag it up and pay it into my account it's extra for me - sneaky eh?!
Live within (well below hopefully) Frugal Challenge amount - anything left over from that unspent will be added in. A penny saved and all that!

Think that's all. Bye for now. Cat

Kat, being a student or part time worker doesn't prevent you from making money. It may seem daunting but remember Richard Branson was a student 6th former when he started out. I home educate my kids and have hardly any time to myself and yet managed to get about 5k all told. We all believed 10k was impossible and proved ourselves right. Wonder what we would have made if we'd really believed it was possible.
If you fancy the challenge why not give it a shot? If not there may well be others if you hunt around the boards. I know some people are doing a frugal living challenge. Or if there is nothing that fits what you want, why not set up your own challenge and start a thread inviting others to join you. Good luck with whatever you choose.

    Morning all,

I'm a long time "lurker"!! But would really love to join in the challenge if you'll have me? I really have no idea quite how to get to the 11k mark but I'll have a damn good go!
  • I would love to join, if i made half this amount i would be debt free apart from the mortgage and car loan. So to be able to clear the gredit card bill i was left with after my divorce, it is slowly going down and is on interest free so thats good!

Not sure what i am going to start with but will go through the house and look for stuff to list on ebay!
