I've earmarked an empty:o isa account to store money in and have been able to move a bit of savings in there to get me started not much but its a start. Also have finished knitting a scarf to go towards a Christmas gift next year this will seem like nothing for some of you but I'm always great at starting things and this scarf was started last christmas as I received a knitting gift set so the fact that I finished it is a great step forward for me;)

I've got wool for 1 more too and would love to progress to socks as my lot are quite outdoorsy and my DS (15) actually had welly socks on his Christmas list this year (which I bought) any easy patterns out there?:D

    total to date 201.29/11,000:)

    Hi Tutti

re sock patterns - there are lots of free patterns available. The people on the old-style knitters thread will be able to advise or you could try knittingpatterncentral.com or just search the internet for sock knitting patterns.

I am glad you mentioned socks as I have some leftover yarn and will start knitting socks for next Christmas too.

If I start now I should finish at least one pair by next Christmas.:rotfl::rotfl:

  • Hi Jacey

Thanks for that I'll check them out, seen as I'm also looking at the frugal challenge I'm thinking about unravelling old jumpers for socks;)!

I'm with you on how long it will take perhaps we should have a sock race :rotfl:

I'm going to look to ebay a lot of clothes that haven't really been worn I had kept them to slim into :o but I guess that if I didn't wear them when they did fit it's highly unlikely that I would suddenly start wearing them now even if I do get into them again!

Can someone just clarify something for me please? The 11k, does this have to be purely savings? Or can it include debt which you are paying off, I have a small amount on a credit card and just wondered if i should include these repayments in my total? Many thanks! :)

Me again! Ok, so far I have allocated £90 christmas money to my saving pot and I recently set up a monthly saver account with (not sure if i'm allowed to say which bank?!) which im paying £150 a month into(this month being the first payment) and has 6% interest, which i was most chuffed with :D. So all told at the 'mo I have £240 to start me off.

Also, I recently switched bank account which will pay me £100 for the priviledge and also utilities which will give me a £100 credit on the account and a nice case of wine! Next years xmas pressies for people maybe?!

Now if only i could figure out how to do one of those posh signature thingies for my total saved.............. I am officially a techno-doofus:mad:

I will be adding another £50 from christmas money to the pot when the banks open in a few days. Takes my total to £297.80.
