    Hi everyone

I've been having a reasonably good day. Lunch with my friend went great - fab to see her as always, and we had a good old gossip about life in general. I went off shopping afterwards, to a town about 20 miles away. I was about a mile away from the shopping centre and my car went

    "pop pop pop" then
"grrrrrr rooooooarrrrrr" - it was the flipping exhaust.

It sounds like a racing car (and trust me it does not in any shape or form look like a racing car). That scuppered my shopping trip - I had a look around, but came home empty handed. I will have to sort out the exhaust tomorrow morning then work out if I can actually afford to spend any more money.

As for carpet shopping today - pah, could not be bothered!!

Oh I found my box of matches (power cut last night - had candles but no matches, but got a light off the gas hob in the end hurrah!). The box of matches was under the front door mat:rotfl::confused:. Before you ask, I have no idea how they got under there! I can only assume it was one of the cats who had been playing with the box - the mat was all wrinkled up which was a bit of a clue...I'm sure they wrinkle it up like that just to annoy me.

Confession time...I had chips at lunchtime. Actually I chose the "healthy" option, one of those stuffed pancake thingies but it had a big wedge of cheese melted over it, and my friend dumped some of her chips on my plate. They were delish!!

Well I've done it!! I can't believe I never have to go into that office again. Thanks for the words of support today. I had to leave a message at 11.30 and he didn't phone back till 5.

Didn't get any os stuff done today, but did have lovely pork tea with carrots, runner beans and apples (sauce) from the garden.

Hope the job happens for DH Taplady. btw, since they have stopped cars parking at the bottom of the school drive (apparently there was nearly an accident so the LEA said they had to keep the gates locked), everyone is parking to pick up in Bromyard Road, so if you see a frizzy haired harassed looking woman in a blue jimny - it's me!!:j :j

Good evening to everyone else and hugs to all

    regards

 Recipe??? Er ... a client at my hairdresser mentioned something like it but neglected to give me the recipe :rotfl: So this is my make-it-up-as-you-go-along-to-use-up-leftover-couscous version based on her description.

Ok, basically, mix some grated cheese into your couscous. Soften some chopped onions in oil in a frying pan, then add them to the cheese/couscous mixture. Mix it all up together well and season with pepper and any herbs you fancy. Add a drop more oil to the frying pan and tip in the couscous mixture, pressing it down and cook like you would bubble and squeak; except, once the underside is cooked, you need to slide it off onto a plate and back into the pan again so you can cook the other side to golden.

Vary the flavour to suits your tastes/fridge. I'm partial to a strong blue veined cheese, but my youngest prefers a medium cheddar. I like fresh herbs (especially rosemary or even some fresh chopped basil). I've made it once with some skinned/deseeded chopped fresh tomatoes and softened those at the same time as the onion. Even tried chopped olives to give an "Italian" feel to the dish.

Experiment, have fun with it :D:D

And if anyone has the "official" recipe, do please share as these are my experimental versions and I'm wondering just how much of a diviant I am ;)

    :T :T Wow, doddsy!! ((well done!)) :T :T

Snowy - chips are perfect 'comfort' food - and it sounds like you were in need of some self nurturing. Hope that exhaust isn't too costly. At least you've found your matches and had a super lunch with a lovely friend :T

    Hi all:hello:

haven't had a chance to read the thread yet - will do so later.

Just wanted to say thanks for all your hugs and good wishes. I'm feeling a lot better. Sorry if I made anyone feel bad.

Better day today. Got loads done at work- yaaay!

Took hm ratatouille and baked spud for lunch so that was OS.

Dinner - hmm - forgot to take fish pie out of freezer and dh has just headed out to chippy. I'm not that hungry so I'll just have some toast and peanut butter - and a can of beer! Diet! who said that?

Off to do another 10 mins ironing. Then wrap present for DSs friend and set out clothes for tomorrow.

take care everyone. Hope it's not as windy and rainy where you are.
