Hi everyone

Oh drat forgot to put the "special message" in....will have to come back later and put it in, but in the meantime I'm going to prattle on.

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

I haven't been to bed yet...painting the town red, moi??? Pah, not a hope! The electricity went splat at around 12.45 am, and it has only just come back. When I was a smoker I used to sit there with an abundent supply of matches and a lighter. Now as a non-smoker I found myself sitting at my desk with a box of candles in my hand but nothing to light them with. Oh the irony!

So, firstly, Peem, I really hope you are feeling more positive today. I have never been pregnant, but appreciate that what you went through was very, very painful and will always be with you. Big hug to you. I hope your day improved after that series of blunders.

Doddsy...welcome to the "I Quit" club. I walked from my job a little while ago - I hated the place, it was literally making me ill. I haven't been at work for eight weeks now - I feel so much better in myself. Financially it is v.scary, but when your health and happiness aren't compromised you do find a way to get through it. Jo...are you going to join us???

My plans for today - I have a hospital appointment in the morning, then I am meeting up with a friend for lunch. After that I'm heading off shopping for the famous navy trousers for my new (temporary) job. Yes, they supply them but at the moment I am a bit of a challenge to fit, so thought I'd play safe and get some of my own. After that I will do yet more looking at carpet...it is so flipping boring and uninspiring though. Mimi very kindly sent me some links about contemporary types of flooring, so I am hoping to track some of that down to have a good look at it and weigh up the pros and cons of it, considering I have a couple of cats.

I might - just might - tidy my desk. I know there is an electricity bill lurking somewhere which I really need to get paid. Life has been a bit upside down this past week or so, but is settling down again now, so need to catch up on all those boring householdy things. I actually cleaned my kitchen last night...it looked like there had been a tornado in it.

Oh and one ickle job I am not looking forward to...I noticed my wheelie bin has an infestation of maggots. Ewww gross... The bins get emptied on a Thursday so once that's done I'll be out with the boiling water and disinfectant. This is my least favourite chore of all time - and I bet I get rained on at the same time. Aw well!!

I'm off to bed now - see you all later. Have a fabulous Thursday. I hope all those (and there were so many!) who were feeling under the weather yesterday feel brighter today.

    Morning Chums ,
hugs to those in need, and smiles to those also in need .
Well my toe has been sorted, and I am sitting here with a HUGE great bandage on it ,like something from a cartoon. Had a lovely Liver & Bacn dinner last night that my smashing SIL made for me and there was enough left over to freeze for next week.
Toe is a bit uncomfortable, but I can live with it and there is a lot worse off than me. Upside was DD popped in with a box of choccies last night ,bless her , I could hear her little boy Mikey kicking off in the car outside as he couldn't get out and see his Granny.
She said he had better not in case he wanted to jump all over me , I have to get it re-dressed this morning so perhaps they may make the bandage a bit smaller .It looks so silly, and I can't get even a slipper on it .When I go this morning I shall have to put a tesco's bag over my foot to keep it from getting wet !!! Good old Tesco's I knew those bags were useful for something.
Weather is looking a bit doubtful today .
Only 60 more days till Christmas and I have got so many things to get .I shall have to put on my thinking cap, I am useless at getting presents .My DD is brilliant, and does a lot of my shopping for me Well the paracetamol seems to have kicked in now so I'm off back to bed for a little while .Take care all:j

    :hello: Mooooorning :):)

Morning taplady and tired mum and to all who follow :D Good luck at the hospital today Snowy, good to see you back; Jackie O, hope they find a smaller bandage for you :)

Managed to clear most of the room out yesterday which yeilded: 3 huge bags of rubbish, 3 boxes for recycling and 5 bag loads for the charity shop.
It was quite a bitter sweet day decluttering; in the main it was good to get stuck in but then I stumbled across an old birthday card of mine sent to me by my mum to mark my 1/4 century birthday ... the beginning of this year marked my dd's 1/4 century. Took a 15min sentimental break before wading back in and clearing yet more. Noticed some mould in the top corner and treated that with some special stuff I bought last year. Could soon be joining you in the carpet shops, Snowy  room could certainly do with some new flooring!

Going to make the famous Weetabix Cake today and I still have a load of chestnuts needing to be peeled and pureed. I'm delegating the peeling to the lads ;)

((hugs)) for those who need them.

    Have a good day

  • Good morning to all of you. Special greetings to Peem... I hope you get through this period without too much pain! Also, to any of you with aches and pains I wish you a speedy recovery or, at least, some relief :)

Today, in fact in just over three hours, we get the GDs for a few days... WHOOPPEE... a chance to revert to childhood for a while (not that I need an excuse :)). We heard yesterday that there is a place in Ormskirk doing Halloweeny-type things so we might take a run out there today. This evening we'll almost certainly be going to Franco's Italian with them... they love it... the atmosphere is superb early evening and they are brilliant with kids!

If we don't make it to Ormskirk and the weather is decent then we'll maybe have a nature ramble... it;s great now that they're older (8 & 5) that they're stating to enjoy walking. We'll take Miffi (the BC) with us.

Anyway, that's it for now... jobs to do before we go and meet the girls...

Hope you all have as good a day as we hope to :)

My last Thursday at work today. Sigh. It'll eventually sink in that I'm going on Maternity leave...well holiday for the next 3 weeks.

Only got about 4 hours of sleep last night, so not looking forward to today. Tea is going to be very simple (jacket potatoes).....so that we don't have to worry about it. Then comes a nice warm bath, and finally an early night's sleep. With luck this will re-vamp me for me final day at work tomorrow.

  • Morning, all! Very quiet in the house today. DD went to a sleepover party yesterday, and won't be back until afternoon. DH has gone to work. DS is still sleeping, but as he got a new computer game yesterday, he'll be no trouble today! :D

I have a list of jobs for today, some of them tough (cleaning the inside of the car) and some of them more fun (labelling photos).

No choir today as it's half term, so a group of us are going out for a pub meal, and we're taking the children, as they get on well with our friends, will be no trouble, and it saves me cooking! WE'll send them home later, and we'll stay for a few drinks.

Had a good shopping expidition yesterday. School coat for DD, and indulgent hoodie for DS. This is probably the last big thing he'll get, as he gets a clothing allowance when he's 12, in the new year. We did this for DD, and it's worked brilliantly. She really thinks whether she needs something, and whether it's good value for money.

Have a great day, Penny. x

    Morning!

Snowy - You seem so much happier for it too! I think I may well join the I QUIT club shortly as ive quite frankly, reached the end of my tether. Im going to have some words with my boss today, im not sure if my new managers have been briefed at all of the state of my health (something which my old manager was fab about and was really understanding about - but then she got promoted and moved - boo!) and I think I may well need to explain exactly what this particular job is doing to me.

Doddsy - Good luck with quitting - I wish I was joining you!

((((Vicky A)))) and ((((tired mum)))) - seems im not the only one frustrated, annoyed and generally fed up with work! I hope things improve for you both, or you both get to quit too!

Had a bit of a row with oh yesterday too over money. This week just gets better and better....

Yesterday I spent the day doing the assigned jobs i put in the diary and I managed to get everything done bar the hoovering because one of the neighbours had commandeered the henry at that particular moment. The loft is now tidy, I washed all the windows, cleaned all the kitchen cupboards, changed the bedsheets and tidied out the carp from underneath and put neatly in the loft, fully cleaned the bathroom inc paintwork and all the tiles, did some laundry, did another dejunking session, dusted the entire house and cleaned all the furniture. No wonder my back hurts today!

Unfortunatley I have to go to work today, I must confess to wondering if I could get a mystery illness and just call in sick, but as I did a couple of weeks ago I dont think it would go down well. I did burn my tonsil on a piece of pasta yesterday - do you reckon thats enough??!! (It bloody hurts as well!) I tell you what - If I knew we could manage financially without my income I wouldnt have even bothered getting up this morning.

Oh well, ill job hunt this evening!

    Jo xx

  • Good morning everyone

Bit sporadic with my posting at mo but sticking to my OS ways.:T

Decluttered and thoroughly cleaned my office as promised. It looks lovely now and is a joy to work in. I was very ashamed at how many crumbs dropped out of my keyboard when I cleaned it and OH thought it was hilarious!

Went for a session with the pain management physio yesterday and she was delighted with the progress I have made so far. However she was no so delighted when she tested the strength of my core abdominal muscles and sent me away with lots of exercises to do:eek: .

I hope all those who were feeling poorly are better today, JackieOs toe sounds very painful.

Plans for today: Do some filing I have neglected for months! Freezer and cupboard inventory. Menu plan for rest of month and November. Oops, and of course lots of tummy exercises!

Just reading the list of what you achieved has made me breathless! No wonder you have backache.
