I agree with you LL, i volunteered in a charity shop for a while and some of the stuff they used to chuck out was really nice stuff.

But reason I came on was (and i'm still shaking with anger). I've just chucked SS out (with OH's blessing).

Praise the lord Uni, i hope you've calmed down and have had a weekend of blessed peace - will check your thread pronto for full update.

friday went well, was back out of hospital about 3ish and spent the rest of the day dozing.

had our first removals man around at the crack of dawn on saturday, and we've had a reasonable quote from him, it's a small company and the quote is a fair bit lower than we expected. He did leave me with the feeling that he didn't think we'd even started packing things or were anywhere near ready. Now i don't disagree we're not ready but we had at least started.

headed to knitting circle yesterday morning which i enjoyed, and then came back expecting to go into town to adventure into my first ever contract phone, but Mr LT was outside sorting out the shed and greenhouse which needed to be done, so i settled down to packaging ornaments and the best dinner service. Took hours considering it only turned out to be 4 boxes plus one for charity. I did find a new use for the underlay you buy for laminate flooring - it's good to cut up to wrap around breakables, saves you having to pack it as well and saves buying some bubble wrap.
Also found the worktop that i knew was in the shed which i want to be able to put up in our new porch/utility area and it's a perfect fit for where it's going so that's saved us a load of money. :)
we've also been packing boxes today - Mr LT was packing up my books and i packed out my massive scrapbooking stash, i've now filled the built in wardrobe entirely with boxes and started blocking the doors in. still loads to do though.

Mr LT has talked me into getting a skip delivered so we don't have to trek the garden/shed/greenhouse/bunker stuff to the tip. It probably makes sense in terms of time saved and i'm getting my head around the additional cost but i've tasked him to do the actual organising of it.

sorry for the essay, feels like i haven't been on here for an absolute age.
  • Nice to know you're OK - sorry I didnt' know you were giong in (or forgot! X) Yay to moving beginning - you'll get there one way for the other - we all do!

Re the skip = think of the time it saves you and think of the petrol it saves you and the hassles - you've enough on your plate right now - OK its an extra cost but in the short term it maybe even itself out and give you the time you need to focus on other things. Think of it as a giant recycling bin which you don't have to drive away.

    :) I'm so excited you're nearly there! :)

  • Uni - I'm glad that things have settled down a bit for you - but also its sad that its come to that for you all very hard for you. xx

no worries Pippi, i didn't really mention that i was going into hospital so no worries to not having mentioned it.
that's how i'm thinking about the skip, i honestly didn't think we'd be able to fill it but having thought about it more i'm sure we'd be able to fill a small one. I'd prefer to be able to freecycle things but we just don't have time for people to not turn up when they say they will etc.

Skips are a total blessing, and worth every penny. And trust me, there's always enough to fill them!! Good luck with it all.
