i won a fair bit of money recently on something that my parents community room organises, i've decided to use the money to buy myself a new Dys0n hoover. I'd like one up and one down in our new place, just to make life easier and i've learnt from experience that the cheaper ones just don't work you have to invest. Asd@ at doing what appears to be a good couple highly reduced so i may go for one of those. seems to be a better use of my winnings than the mobile contract i was considering going for.
Nora i'm coming to believe that you're right about skips. It will certainly take less energy to fill that up than the copious trips to the tip and the climbing up and down of the horrible steps near the big bins at the tip - they don't seem to be designed for women lol0 -
hi LT!
Just a quick thought re skips v's freecycle... I wouldn't worry too much, you'll probably find that somethings get recycled from the skip any way (ie, out of the skip and into someones car etc!) At least thats what seems to happen down here! lol
I would love to get a skip in - OH says no - I think he's a little worried I will get carried away! ;O)start = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225
end = Mon 28th Sept 2015 DEBT FREE!
I love a good plan - it may not work.... but I love a good plan!0 -
Happy New Year Lemon
Hope you are feeling better. Did you have your gallbladder removed by key-hole. I had mine out a few years back. I am sure its hard work moving but it must be very exiting looking forward to your new home. At least you are getting rid of everything that is of no use to you any more.
take care

LT see if you have a Dyson repair centre near you they sell reconditioned one as well as new ones. When mine finally packed in I bought a reconditioned one from them for £100. They service it free every year and its now about 2 years old.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Hi LT, I was around for a bit a few months back, I think my only notable achievement was Christening Mad Mavis! I'm back for good now, my new diary is an incentive to get a bigger house - then I can get a shiny red kettle!
I can't believe reading the other comments about snobby charity shops, my local British Heart Foundation takes even my 3 year olds' holey jeans as they weigh anything rubbish in! They also take his scruffy old shoes (lady asked for them one day when I was emptying the boot of bags and I said they were just for the bin!). Guess I'm not living in a posh enough area, we get second hand Primani in our charity shop!
I don't think I could bring myself to get a skip, I'd probably take half the stuff back out again, however hubby reckons it's a much better idea, even ignoring petrol, the amount of time going to the tip would be more in an hourly rate than just chucking it outside, those Hippo Bags look good value depending on how big the stuff you're chucking is.
Happy days anyway  I'll be trying to follow your example!Starting my journey July 2011. My OH used to work in a skip sorting company and emptying skips sounded like fun, kept a lot of young men fit and hunky, and they sort the waste properly so things that can be recylced are! I am not sure if all skip companies are this good, but it gives hope!

Oh LT, you have been mega busy. How are you feeling after the operation?
As for the skip..I'm in two minds about those, on one hand it is so easy just to tip everything in it and watching to rumble off on the back of a lorry, on the other side of the coin I'd have more stuff out off the skip then in it. I think someone else said that above too.
Don't worry about the Freecycle, as someone above said, passers buy will be able to do that for you and it will probably help the local economy too as they'll probably sell on what they 'found'
I'm off to recycle some old clothes.
Chat later hun

hi everyone, sorry to have been mia but it's been mad at work and i've had a couple of computer free nights at home.
unfortunately my op wasn't to do with my gall bladder, i did suggest they may like to do it at the same time but they declined. So i'm left with just managing the attacks when they happen and trying not to bring one on.
we got a tiggy tiny skip so i don't feel so bad and most of the stuff going in it is stuff that's been left out in the garden for years and therefore is ruined so it's not 'good' stuff going to waste. We've managed to palm the decrepid bunker off on a neighbour who wanted it so that's moved today, and a new person a couple of doors down has begged some plant pots so we're leaving some for our buyer and passed some along to her.
Two boxes have currently been taken to charity with at least another box ready but i can guarentee a few extra as well once i've sorted them out.
things feel like they're moving :j:j:j we've had the transfer deed for the house we're buying, which they need to correct but that's that done, and we've just recieved the paperwork for us to sign to get ready to exchange on this place, so fingers crossed (and i've not confirmed with our solicitors yet), barring problems with the vendors responses to the solicitors queries, we could be exchanging next week to complete the week after. but i don't want to tempt fate.
it's getting scary now and massively exciting.0 -
