Chewing (or indeed anything else she's doing that she shouldn't be) - same principle as a child - get down to closer to her level, look straight at her and say "Poppy No!" in a firm voice. When she wanders off from the thing she was chewing after you've told her to stop, reward that behaviour with a treat or a fuss. Remember when rewarding to make your voice really light and enthusiastic too - dogs take far more on board from the tone of voice than they do from the words used. The tip about putting something in her bed that smells familiar is an excellent one - beyond that I'm afraid just ignoring her if she cries at night is the only real option - otherwise you risk rewarding the negative behaviour (the crying) and creating a real problem for yourself.

thanks for all the helpful advice
the crying has almost stopped, got OH to put his vest in with her, but I think she was also getting used to the idea.
EH we're really trying with the No! thing, the hardest thing is that it's usually my feet, hands, legs etc that are being bitten other things I can deal with. i'm trying to keep calmer with her, saying No! and calming her down so she doesn't think it's a game, we're getting there slowly.
Today's news is that she's discovered how the cat flap works! only the one from the kitchen to utility as yet, we're hoping the magnetic locking system on the one to outside holds against her extra strong head, but i'm not sure how long it will be before she's got that one sussed as well. I know she'll soon be outgrowing it but i'm worried i'll get home one day to find her stuck in it.0 -
Oh dear - I'm chuckling here at the thought of you getting home to find the back end of a puppy waggling about through the catflap! :rotfl:
If she's chewing on *you* - try a sharp clap of the hands (unless it's those being chewed, obviously!) to make her jump along with the "No". A definite no-no chewing on people I'd say!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

quite agree with the definite no chewing on people thing EH. We're still working on it.
she can now work the cat flap both ways! which makes setting off to work interesting as by the time the kitchen door is locked she's through the flap and out the back door into the garden. I then have to sneakily get her into the utility and shut the door sharpish. lol0
