:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:Her boyfriend was doing well by saving money on haircuts and doing it at home with a knife and fork!
Yes I did spot the value food too!
I saw this, and I was like !!!!!!! at the telly.
I must admit I got into debt by spending on luxuries, I went on holiday, and bought a lot of food in M&S. I would never in my life, even if i was a euromillions winner, spend 900 on a bag. Its just insanity. I would rather sponsor 4 kids a year in namibia or something and buy a 10 quid bag from the market! Ive never bought anything expensive with my debt ( oooh apart from my really useful degree!)
I think we should have had MUCH more discussion about this business venture. I would not have opened a windowcleaning round with that girl, let alone a nightclub. I did not see any flickering AT all about the debt, but by the end she did say she wouldnt spend the money on designer- i didnt believe her. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I didnt see the programme; the OH wouldnt allow it because he thought it would be rubbish. When we first saw the promo for it I thought it was probably more of a show built haphazardly around a snazzy title they came up with due to a similar sounding Adam Ant liric.
Bank of Mum & Dad and Spendaholics, both programmes I thoroughly enjoyed, also tended to take on the more materialistic type of debtor rather than any other kind. I never once on the show saw someone on there because they had had medical problems or something like that. The main reason is twofold:
A) Materialism makes for good car crash TV. People love seeing snobs act all high and mighty then bought down a peg or two
They tended to focus on how a person can avoid getting into such positions in the future. Which means they technically need people who had previous bad habits that need to be broken.
That worked for them. However, this show seems to suggest it can help cut debt. Since it isnt focusing on the causes like Spendaholics did, I agree they can afford to drop some of the spoiled brats and help people who got into debt from say, unemployment. They can teach them budgeting and all about ISA's, so that they can have a cushion for the future, should it happen again. Problem is, it ain't trashy enough.Debt & Mortgage free...0 -
I saw it and thought the same.
I'm in shedloads of debt and I hate it, but I don't own any designer clothes (except a semi-designer coat I bought for £80, on credit, sorry, head's been buried) but that's not a patch on £900 for a flippin' handbag.
I don't have anything much I can sell. Unless it's my body...if I do a 'by-the-pound offer I could make a bit ;-)I may be skint but at least I'm Relentlessly Positive!

You have to wonder why she would not think she was in such debt?! Two cars, a huge wardrobe, hand bags, designer this, she knew it was bad but not how much?1 Have a look around ,what you have, what you earn, how many cards you have, then see.
I absolutely hate cards as it is 'false money'. I have done it myself, not now but before, get the card out, that is the horror at the end of the month when the card bill comes and you feel sick, the battle to pay it back, all cards now destroyed and cash only! xx0 -
She's a perfect example of the type who believes they "deserve" a certain lifestyle no matter what. One can hardly blame them. We are inundated by media accounts of WAG's spending their days shopping. What amazes me even more is Paris Hilton is as much a celebrity here as she is in NY. Hence, I had to hear about her all the time when I lived there, even England isn't a haven. She is famous because she is rich. Not because she is talented, or even beautiful. So there are people who believe they too deserve to live the same lifestyles. But it isnt about what we deserve. Many of us deserve alot but without the income to support that, it cant work. Designer handbags don't grow on trees.Debt & Mortgage free...0

Another point, saying "I work hard so I deserve this Ferrari" makes about as much sense as saying "I dieted hard so I deserve this X-tra large pizza with stuffed crust accompanied by a vat of Ben & Jerry's and 2 pints"
Yet I hear people say such things all the time. "I EARNED this pair of shoes! I had a really bad week!"
Unfortunately, really bad weeks don't pay for shoes. When I have a really bad week I make the OH take me out for vietnamese. Works for me.Debt & Mortgage free...0 -
i found it interesting, but i'm not sure how long the girl will be able to stay on the straight and narrow. i could imagine she would get easily swept along into buying the next designer bag.
But they said at begining of show she earnt 40k a year. so why on earth does she still have sucha big debt. surely that is a huge wage to earn and u wouldn;t need to get into debt. or is that me just being sensible and voring.
and why did she wear the same white dress for nearly the whole show ? if she has so many clothes surely she has more than one dress to wear.
i felt really sorry for the boyfriend he obviously loves her as he said her debts are his responsiblity as well, she is very lucky to have a chap like that . lets hope he stays level headed and can really help her out of this awful debt situation.
i did feel tho they needed to really drill it home the seriousness of the situation.0 -
I know I'm a newbie and you'll probably think I'm spamming but it was all this talking about designer stuff....I won a Tiffany Pendant and some Jimmy Choos last week on a lowest bid auction website that's just started. They are all kosher too, I've got receipts and everything.
I got them for under £10 if I count the cost of about 6 texts!
So chuffed.

No, I absolutely agree with you.jcr16 wrote:and why did she wear the same white dress for nearly the whole show ? if she has so many clothes surely she has more than one dress to wear.
Yes, I noticed that too! :rotfl: It must have been some really expensive dress that she was particularly proud of.0
