Why didnt she sell the beamer and halve her debt at least, keep the peugot ?
I said to hubby I bought my 2 pairs of shoes/boots I needed for work came to £30 so I put the £6 handbag back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
£6 :eek:Just owe Dad £2500 for a new car

Paid off car loan 22nd August 2009. :T0 -
This has to be the worst debt show ever!
Woman waltzes in - 'I can clear £9K off your debt in 4 weeks'.
Sounds good. The deal is that you stick to a budget, sell household items that are worth a few bob, and sell a car you don't need. Talk about stating the obvious! Of that £9k, £7900 came from the car!
They tried to trick the poor girl into buying a puppy, and stuck some ridiculous device on her arm to monitor what shops she went in.

I agree, most of the recent shows like this have involved 'experts' coming in and suggesting selling valuable stuff, err, that's hard.
Notice they didn't try and sell her £5k 'assets'!0 -
Watched the first 10 minutes and turned it over.Thick or what.Typical tv post property !!!!!! production. When that stupid bint had to hand money out to folks on the street that was enough.A very serious subject once again trivialised by channel 4.
Frankly, the way some of these programs are presented I feel it`s an insult to my intelligence!0 -
I quite enjoyed the programme, but mostly because it makes me feel great that, o.k. my life might be a bit boring having to be careful with money, but at least I know that what I have is mine and that the £41k debt that she was in was equivalent of 1/3 of my house!!!
Its also fun to take the p**s out of people like her who were obviously so brainless that you could stick a finger in her ear and it'd come out of the other side.
Ok, (and I said to GF at the time) if it wasn't for selling the car then she wouldn't have hardly dented the debt, and its not as if she can carry on selling cars every month... but still!
Also, did anyone find it ironic that she has to have £900 handbags, breast implants and convertible BMW's but all of the food in her fridge was Tesco value.... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
And it really is sad that she only buys £900 handbags because she wants everyone to know she has a £900 handbag, NOT because she actually likes the bag......... thats the sort of thing I was doing when I was 15 (albeit with designer jeans...)

Started to watch it...but well had to come back to MSE to see how the "Scared" thread was going.
The girl on the programme well...numpty imo! I would love to have so much expensive cr*p to be able to part with, if you cleared most of my home you wounldn't raise £9000!! If you could I would have done it! I'm more of a Mizz-Pink gal myself!;)0 -
We've just watched this and are still running the 'poor girl' down,it's people like her that makes other people assume that debt is caused by buying designer/expensive gear  ,hubby just asked me what was the most I have spent on a handbag,£20 5 years ago and I'm still using it! I would love an 'expert' to come in and find something to sell to pay some of my debt off, they won't find anything here
Why don't they ever show real people struggling with debt? I suppose that would be too much of a challenge. Debt at highest £102k

Finally sleeping easy in my bed :A0 -
Programmes like this make mee want to cry, when you have worked hard all your life and never even had a £900 car let alone handbag, and knowing that women like that sneer at people like me in our charity shop clothes. Then they probably get paid to do the show and get expert help to sort them out.Well at least the money paid hasn't come out of my tv liscense fee.Mutual Supporters club member (Nov 2006)

I didn't get how she managed to save them £9845 in 1 month - but the remaining £31k would take 24 months - but she had things to sell
how did she work that out?
and i didn;t like the trailer for nexts weeks episode at the end - they were tieing £20 notes to baloons and letting them off - what a waste of money0
