I am in serious debt because I've kept three households going in the last year - my mum's mine and Oh's...They would have lost everything if I hadn't. To me it might be debt but I went there to save my family's sanity, keep a roof over their head and at one point, one member topping themself...
Sorry not having a go at you, just telling you my own story.....!
You'll see further down I said that not EVERYONE in debt is there because of luxuries but SOME are. What you did sounds very unselfish and is to be applauded.
My point overall is that we all do silly things at times, doesn't matter how we got here, we're here, and if people are trying to do something about it then they should not be attacked.
Anyway, after what we've learnt about her since, feel free to attack!!:T0 -

Thanks Loneranger and Bullygig, I did what anyone would do. I hate people having hard times and not being able to help. There's so many lovely people on here too like this, I'm sure you two are as well.....loneranger wrote:Big (((((hug)))) to you sassers, what a nice person you are.

Blimey, surprised you even bother watching any "reality" show on C4 which claims any connection with reality. Sad really, they did start some promising ones many years ago, but then rapidly dscended into "entertainment TV" - full of (usually annoying) "characters", but not to worry, everything works out ok in the end.
You can usually divide the C4 offerings into 3 bits (convenient for the hour-long ones with adverts):
1 - starting up, either no experience or in deep doodoo
2 - things start to go wrong, or initial advice ignored
3 - milliseconds away from absolute failure, or fallen off the wagon
4 - wooohooo, everything's worked out great
Summary - crap TV, but a nice little earner for the production companies who appear to be aiming at the soap/celeb market rather than the documntary market. Can't really blame them given the relative audience sizes - but a waste of time watching if you're expecting anything near serious...0 -
I have come to the conclusion that some of these people get themselves into debt so they can appear on television. The latest debtor will probably have her own show soon.0

Just got sent this link - talk about mean! To be fair it was pretty naff, mostly made up as well but they actually paid me £2000 to do the show which at the time and being in debt was handy.
Yes I did sell one of my cars (well both, got a 6 series convertible now but dont worry I bought it for cash not credit!) and got out of debt about 2-3 years later. Not by the way they did of scrimping and saving and living on meager allowances but by setting up my own company.
So the people who called me brainless I am happy to prove you wrong - I have won young entrepreneur contests and grants and been labelled as one of the next generation of entrepreneurs in the UK. Not bad for someone who ''if you put a finger in her ear would come out of the other side!''
I am now the owner of several companies, one the largest of it's kind in the UK which hopefully one day will make me my millions with the launch of it in America.
I do not own one credit card or have any loans, except for my student loan from my degree. I got out of debt my way - from working 24/7 on an idea I believed in, and finding a niche in the market.
Had I tried their techniques I would probably still be in debt! I risked everything to set up companies on my own with no knowledge of running a business and could have ended up bankrupt however it worked out well and the hard work has more than paid off.
Its easy to judge something you see on tv but bear in mind 90% of shows like that are complete and utter !!!!!!!!, and majorly exaggerated.
Oh and I got the pug the week later
