Old style daily thred 06 December 2010

:xmastree: :santa2: :rudolf:

Hi, this is the Daily thred . This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning Halight and all who follow!

Life not going too well here, but have decided to be positive and concentrate only on the good things.

So, today is a lovely cold day - something that will hopefully get rid of the nasty summer bugs that plague the garden! School is open (with warnings over ice) so both DSs can go! This means I'll be able to get into work. Made a lovely garland yesterday from felt and ribbon - supposed to look home made - which it does, and perhaps after Christmas I'll smarten it up a bit. My 20M of velvet that I'm planning to make curtains out of has been delivered, and it looks like it has a thermal lining on - yipee. Am going to line the curtains anyway.

Went to see my parents yesterday and swopped presents - not that they'll be opened until Christmas, but my present from them looks huge and might be a raised bed for the garden - we'll have to see.

Am going to spend the week going to school christmas plays, sorting things out for my brother who has just moved into an empty flat. Maybe I'll get the children to draw him a Christmas picture that he can put up instead of a christmas tree!! Right, the chill breeze is nipping my ankles and my coffee cup is drained. Am off to get dressed and think positive all day! XXX
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Morning all

Looks bit icy outside and all the cars are iced over. School will probably be back on as we've had no extra snow over the weekend.
Taking bagels to work for luch and left over chicken from yesterdays dinner will be made into a chicken curry.
Have to post Ebay parcels and will try and get round to writing Christmas cards.

    Have a great day everyone

Chilly here this morning, made worse by my car heater failing last night, I need to phone DS2 to see if he can help, I need to nurse the car along for as long as possible, I was saving up for a new one, but no point if I'm not going to be able to see to drive it.
The usual morning chores have been done, hubby's been dropped at the station with his pack up, I'm taking leftover cauliflower cheese for my lunch. DW is sitting idle, we went to hubby's Christmas do yesterday & so I didn't cook. The fish have been fed & I've packed up the rest of my scarves to sell & I'm taking some quilting to do during my lunch break.
I'm expecting a fun morning at work, we have a meeting at 10 & one persons has been causing trouble, not sure if it will be mentioned or not, either way it won't affect me, I work all on my little ownsome most of the time & so avoid the office politics.
    Keep save & warm everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

Chilli here this morning, looks like we are in for another cold week. Halight that is so sweet about your twin thinking xmas is all for her, bless her xx

I have a busy day today, need to tidy and clean through downstairs, and mop floors, shopping is being delivered today, (should have been last thursday), do a small online top up shop for next week. I need to take little dog over the fields, cook a dinner, might do a roast, and I will sit and write my xmas cards this afternoon, and post the ones I need to tomorrow.

I put some washing on the line yesterday, and then forgot about it, when I finally got it in at 9 last night, it was frozen stiff :rotfl:, it was a double bed set, had fun trying to gat that on the rads to dry.

Will have a route around to see what washing I have today.

Esmf, I wanted to send you a big hug, you are allways so cheerful and positive, and I know you are having a hard time, so big hugs my darling xx

NPM hows it going with you ? has the snow cleared at all ?

    Have good days all xx

We three kings of Orient are
    Bearing gifts we traverse afar.
Field and fountain, moor and mountain,
    Following yonder star.

O star of wonder, star of night,
    Star with royal beauty bright,
    Westward leading, still proceeding,

    Morning :santa2:
    Mmmmmmmmmmmmm, chocolate angel :D

I have made progress - I can now lift a mug of tea with my left hand :D

We've had more snow here, not much but it'll make the trip to the vet a bit awkward - I was going to walk. Poor Boris Pig's teeth have overgrown and he can't eat properly.

I'm not really sure what to do this week. We're having the kitchen rendered at the weekend so there's no point in doing much cleaning downstairs, it'll be covered in dust again. I can't put the decs up yet either. I could nip to town  but I hate shopping, I zoom through it and I usually arrive home an hour and a half after I left the house :D

I'll see how Boris gets on this morning (hopefully the only problem is his teeth) and take it from there.

Icy and very chilly here this morning.

Have a day's holiday today so will be heading out to the next town to finish my xmas shopping, not that much to get but will be nice to have a look round the shops without DH or the boys! I'm intending to hopefully be home around lunchtime so I can do some jobs at home too, lighten the load for later on in the week and keep on top of everything (that's my plan anyway).

Started major de-pit of DS2's bedroom, haven't got it finished so his room look's a bit of a bomb site, but will endeavour to sort it later. We did have a takeaway Sat evening so not very OS but wasn't that nice and now we've decided that we'll not bother again! I cooked a roast chicken with all the trimmings yesterday so have some meat, yorkshires and veg left, they will become the boys tea for tomorrow night as quick meal needed and then carcass will become stock. Tonight we have pork chops, did remember to defrost them. I'm hoping to be able to do some cooking later too, maybe some cupcakes or choc brownies.

Did manage to get quite a few items listed on ebay, will have to see if they sell. Need to get first load in the DW so that will be finished by the time I get back so I can get it dried and ironed.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
