A friend had a similar problem the other day when her daughter asked why the tooth fairy had given her friend more money that she had been given.

To that I would say that the cleanest teeth get the most money - thankfully no one else at my childrens school seems to get more than £2 so I haven't had to use it yet :rotfl:
I don't have any kids, but when I was a kid all the presents were from Santa. It never occured to me to question why my parents never bought me presents because no one did but Santa. My parents had to work their backsides off to buy us presents but never claimed an iota of credit for it, other than passing on our lists to Santa, because they wanted to keep the magic alive for us. Now I'm old enough to understand that, I admire them greatly for it!

I hope my kids grow up to appreciate all that I do for them (I say 'I' cos it's me who plans it all - hubby just does last minute bike building and the likes:rotfl:) I would rather they knew the magic of christmas now and appreciate me for it all when they are a little older. I don't care that they think Santa brings 99% of their gifts, it puts a big smile on their faces and makes my day just watching them.

I tell my DD Santa can find you anywhere you are on Christmas Eve - as we're never at home in our own house when Santa comes.

Yeah that's why I said 'one place you stay'...doesn't mean you have to be there at the time or at home, just means you only get pressies delivered to one place, wherever it is :)

Don't want my lot thinking he will drop off two lots:rotfl:

When they were young, my children were often confused about how Father Christmas would get down our non existant chimney.....we used to tell them that he has a magic key which opens up a chimney that only he can see and use and he gets them in that way.

They believed it too for ages!

Oh how I miss those days...it loses some of the sparkle when they get older and know the truth.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I grew up thinking everything was from Santa. He left us a stocking on our bedroom door, and then big presents in the living room. I honestly never thought it was strange that I didn't get anything off mum and dad.
Should I add that I am now 26 and mum and dad still do a stocking, and big presents in the lounge and we will go down and shout 'He's been, he's been!'....It's tradition!
When we were kids the stocking was a pair of my mum's old tights. Now we have the fancy ready made kind.

    Just wondering.....

My son has written his list. I have bought everything he asked for but I am wondering if you guys say its all off santa or off you as parents?

Its just I have worked hard for the money for presents & Im getting a bit fed up of Santa getting all the bloody praise!!!!

My friend just gives her children a few games & a tangerine off Santa & she gives them the rest.

    Unsure!!!

    What do you guys do?

When my daughter was younger she always had one present from Santa in her stocking, on the end of her bed and one present from Santa under the tree (usually something that she wasn't expecting to get). I always used 'special' wrapping paper with Santas on for these. Then she had other presents from us under the tree.
At quite a young age she asked me why all the grown-ups kept talking(moaning!) about christmas shopping so we told her that Santa only brings presents for children and grown-ups buy presents for eveyone else.

We always made a point of NEVER getting everything on her list, as she got older the list got longer and the wishes more and more expensive (Xbox, Laptop, IPad etc)

In our house Santa took them to keep them safe when I was little and brought them back on Christmas Eve. Never had any presents from Santa.

in our house, santa brings most of the presents, we give a few presents, ie one year we brought them a wii and everything else came from santa.
santa gives their gifts in colour coordinated paper, ie one child will have all red paper and one will have all gold, its totally different from the rest of the wrapping paper in the house, and santa only comes until the christmas after your tenth birthday, when santa stops as he has to make time for all the new babies born. we have no chimney, so we hang a magic key on our wreath on the door on christmas eve, santa uses it to let himself in, then he hangs it on the tree when he is done!
The reindeer have carrots, and one of them always seems to drop a piece on the front garden, clumsy things!

Santa brings everything that arrives on Xmas morning, they understand that gifts from friends and rellies are just delivered by him, but everything else is from the big man himself, mine are only 6 and 3 and I dont care if santa gets all the credit, I just love the magic of it all. There are plenty of years ahead when they will realise that mum and dad are in fact santa, but for now I am happy with the idea of elves making toys and wrapping them all. We have a tree pressies for after xmas lunch which is something from us and also means we can save some of the excitment and spread the frenzy of toys during the day.

I got one of those 'magic keys' from the pound shop as well - we hang it on the outside door wreath on Christmas Eve. :)
